My apologies for adding the "er". I think we used to have another member with a similar name…maybe at the old site. I meant no disrespect. Nor did I by adding the link to the DNA thread.

The link I provided is to a link at this site. Any one who chooses to click on it will be ok.

It’s all good.

I did not take any offense, even by the added "er", I simply thought that I should explain, I did not want to look like I was trying to present myself as some expert researcher, and while I never shy away from a good debate, and while I can become argumentative at times, I want the members here to know that I am very grateful for their help, and that I respect the fact that many of them have been involved with and in study of this case for a lot longer than I have.

I can not say that I have used any other message boards. I have only been researching this case for a few months. When I first began looking into this case, and wanting to discuss it with others, I think I posted once on a few other sites about Hoffman, but ultimately found this site to be most suited for my needs, and have not returned to any other boards since.

If I came off as disrespectful I also would like to apologize, you are right, a link would have been the more appropriate choice.

I am somewhat of an eccentric individual, and apologize in advance for some of my eccentricities. I am sure that your posted links do not contain malware, but I am always very cautious. ( Seriously, you would not believe the access someone can obtain simply by getting a person to click on a link, but anyway, I have my ways of accessing the url without clicking the link, and I will not bother you guys with my issues on the matter again. )

I get the malware concerns. Let’s just say, my old Vista account was better than this new one. I’ve had to shut it my computer off at least 3 times in the 2 months I have had it. Although I could have called the 800# the window provided me and given them money and remote access to my system. :?

Some of the malware out there can be pretty scary, remote accessing tools specifically.

The "remote accessing tools" (RATs) that I am talking about will give an individual total access to your system, they can see what’s on your screen, they can watch through your camera, listen through your microphone, and much more. Now, all one needs to do to gain such access to ones system is to get the target to click on a link, and it could be any link, like in an e-mail, or like a link provided in a post on a message board, and so on…

…Click the wrong link, and you just gave up total access to all of your devices and digital information.

…like I said, I know a lot of codewriters and programmers, and I know all of the things that I should be cautious of, even if they are things which most people would never consider.

I have found ways around clicking on links, and will not bother you guys on this matter again.

I just finished the 1st (and I assume last) season of the series. While I’ve of course known of The Zodiak cases for years (I’m 61), I’ve not followed it as rigorously as you all have. Though intrigued, I was disappointed in the ending in this 2017 series. My first thought was the FBI put the kabosh on the series — anybody here think that can be a possibility?

The show got OK ratings — usually top 15 or top 20, on the charts I looked at — but they might not have been high enough, relative to the cost of producing the show. If you can stick a bunch of people in the studio, just let the cameras roll, and get similar ratings, then a 2nd season of this wouldn’t look too attractive to the guys in charge. It also got some pretty brutal reviews.

At any rate, the FBI isn’t in charge of anything. They just provide support to the local agencies.

What you say makes sense. I really did not know what power — if any — the FBI has over a program like this when it comes to investigating a high profile case. By the end of the season, the FBI appeared to be interested in working a bit with the investigators and this seemed essential to me. I suspect ratings (as you say) are the downfall. The producers know what costs are going into the show and if the ratings are simply “decent”, it isn’t worth it. I mostly enjoyed it but had some doubts as they hung a lot on two suspects from the get-go.

The FBI did a lot of handwriting and fingerprint analysis over the years. Looked into proposed cipher solutions. That’s what I remember offhand. Maybe helped with certain records searches and whatnot.

Apparently, there’s some renewed activity in the case, but they’re keeping a tight lid on it — for now…
