I’m not sure why, but this article stood out to me. I didn’t read through them all, actually barely any of them. Just quickly looked through the titles and names, but this stood out to me as being Zodiac like. Thoughts?

Holy crap. A friend of mine once told me a long time ago that he knew who Zodiac was (and I didn’t believe him, of course) and the last name was Heller. My friend’s grandfather was some sort of LE agent in the San Fran. area back then and a guy named Heller was his prime suspect, but nobody would take him seriously. I’m 99% sure he said the first name was Richard though. I have looked into all the male Heller’s I could find and never came up with anything interesting.

Wow- that really is interesting. Maybe William and Richard are relatives and one committed the murders and the other wrote the letters? Or at least assisted with the writing. It could also be possible that Richard liked the writing style of William and got the idea from him to write the letters and send them to the papers. All interesting possibilities. If you could verify the name, plus any additional info about the person and/or his family that would be great!!

My friend passed away a couple years ago, and I’m not sure if his grandfather is still alive or not. The only way I can gather more info is to talk to my friend’s mother, but I’m not sure where she is living now and she is not all there mentally. I’ll see what I can do though.

A few minutes ago on a toilet not very far, far away….

How about a letter talking about cyphers and mental illness from someone with the middle initial "Z"?

I googled cypher and found this. Pretty sure it must have been posted before but maybe it’s on the old board. Dumped it in Zync.

Thanks, I think the reason I remembered his name, is because I had found letters to the editor from him in other papers. I got excited because of his initials, and his frequent letter writing to editors, but I could find zero ties to Riverside, and he apparently died in 1970,so couldn’t be z anyhow

That sounds very like a Z correspondence. Editor -, whom, amongst other little things.

From the 6/17/74 Vallejo Times

No real person by this name has EVER existed, I checked multiple databases. This does not scream Zodiac, and maybe the writer just made the name up, but maybe Z,if he was writing papers, would feel the need to use a fake name.

Morf,

I have been fond of this line of research since I started this whole Zodiac thing in 2010. I would like to offer help in any way that I can.

I understand the whole frequent letter writer thing but your post above is a lot like something the Zodiac would do – make up a name or use someone else’s. I am not so certain he would use his own name. Its going to be more about "what he says " that tells us that it is him. So I think we need "all" letters that were published. The reason I say all is because I think, in our study, there are things we might take for granted that shouldn’t be. I would also go back a year and start in 1967 if you are only wanting to focus on the bay area. The be-in was in February/March of that year and the Zodiac would have most certianly been in the area for that.

What about this particular letter caught your interest?

Sounds like something my dad would have wrote back then! :D
