I was just thinking of how so many people treat that sketch like its a picture. And also link people to the sketch just because they wear glasses. Didn’t zodiac say something like "I only look like the sketch when im killing" sorry I cant remember the actual quote. Maybe he wore glasses while killing just to throw off any possible witness descriptions. Just a thought, I could be wrong. But I would really hope nobody was ruled out over the years due to not wearing glasses.

No chance of that, I think.

He didn’t wear glasses at BRS, as per the only available testimony. Could have been wearing glasses at LB, but probably wasn’t according to the only survivor. Definitely wore glasses at PH, but whether as disguise or not is anyone’s guess.

The only possible conclusion based on what we know is that Z didn’t suffer from so poor eyesight that he HAD to wear glasses.

I don’t think he wore glasses every day. Maybe reading glasses, or maybe no glasses at all. Of course there is the theory that he stole Paul Stine’s glasses and put them on then walked away from the scene.

I was just talking to my friend about that today — sort of a logical way of thinking about it. Z talks about wearing disguises. He likely went unseen at LHR and BRS, due to the remote environments. Then he dons a disguise at LB; then he grabs Paul’s glasses for cover. IF he was walking with a strange gait when spotted in PH, could it have been because he couldn’t see very well through those super-thick glasses of Paul’s?

I think Paul Stine is wearing his glasses at the crime scene.

I don’t remember ever seeing any photos of Paul’s body where he was wearing glasses. Wasn’t there a "personal belongings" report that listed all the things he had on him and glasses were not on the list?

There is some debate about this:

It is hard to tell from the photos. And it is vague as to whether they were identified as "missing" from the crime scene.

Thanks for posting the link. I remember a debate, but wasn’t sure where it was at. Personally, I do think we was wearing Stine’s glasses. I mean, committing a murder in a residential area it would make sense to alter your appearance in any way possible.

I can agree with Z wanting to alter his appearance, but putting on another person’s glasses? That just doesn’t work for me. He could well have brought his own, of course.

Has anyone actually TRIED putting on another’s glasses and walking around with them? Not so pleasant, normally.

I have tried on a bunch of people’s glasses. Some were all blurry and some I could see pretty well. I get what you’re saying, though. The chances of Zodiac and Stine having matching eye sight are pretty slim.

If he put them on, it was a last minute thing, imo. Maybe he knew he was being watched. Maybe he touched them and didn’t want to mess with prints.

…they may be dealing with one or more ersatz Zodiacs–other psychotics eager to get into the act, or perhaps even other murderers eager to lay their crimes at the real Zodiac’s doorstep. L.A. Times, 1969

He had already altered his appearance. I think he knew Paul Stine, and probably got in the front. I think he knew exactly what he was going to do that night. Even if he wasn’t wearing lifts, he looked barrel-chested due to his half-zipped jacket holding up the raincoat, stuffed up his shirt. Just my take.
