There are so many things that are a "coincidence" in this case. It’s really strange at how many there are. I just can’t bring myself to believe that this ad is a coincidence.

They are both from Illinois. Both taught at colleges. Who knows, it is possible that they knew each other.

I did a search to see if I could find anything related to the KKK and Imperial Wizard that happened in 1976. It seems that an Imperial Wizard, Sam Bowers, of the KKK was released from prison in 1976. The story is a little hard to follow on the website I found this on but apparently Bowers went back to prison in 1998 and died there in 2006. In 2002 he sent Christmas greetings to a fellow patriot. Would you look at the snowman on the letter and notice that the letter was signed Sam. Those two things remind me of the 1990 Eureka card, bigtime!

Seagull, is there any way to find out who this card was sent to? I can’t tell if the name is blurred out on purpose or not, but I can’t tell what the name is. The reason I ask is because I was just reading about Sam Bowers having a close relationship to the Minutemen, particularly to Dennis Patrick Mower, who I am trying to learn more about.

The name of the person who received the letter is blurred out on purpose. I’m not certain how you would find out who it had been mailed to but it does look to me as if that person’s name was longer than the six letters in the name Dennis.

I was thinking that as well, but it’s hard to tell. Weird that we have a very familiar looking card sent from a man who was close with certain Minutemen members. A friend of mine likes Mower as a Z suspect, but he will not share any of his research with me until he is convinced that Mower was Z. I have never even seen a pic of Mower and know very little about him, but I do like the possibility of some sort of Minutemen involvement in the Zodiac crimes. Thanks for the reply.

I think you are thinking of the Aryan Brotherhood. They are the prison gang. The KKK doesn’t really get along with Neo Nazis because the Nazis were German and the Klan hates non Americans, even white ones. Yeah, it doesn’t make a lot of sense, but that’s racist "logic" for you.

Also the Klan hates Catholics, which most members of the AB are.

But a lot of the early Aryan Brotherhood folks were in the Right-Wing groups such as the Minutemen, John Birch society and California Rangers etc. They got along with the Klan for the most part, and had even worked together to a certain degree. Quite a few Klansmen were also members of the other groups that I mentioned. Too bad it’s not possible to see who Sam Bowers mailed that Xmas card to.

The date of this personal ad has been brought in to question, but when we consider what was in the same paper the day before, I think we might take into consideration some things that were written in this article:

Interesting Seagull. Certainly possible that the Ad could be related to the article, then again, nothing in the Ad really matched up with anything in the article. I still think it’s interesting timing as far as Fred goes.

Out of the blue there is an article in the paper about Zodiac in 1976. The next day there is a personal ad about Zodiac in the same paper. I think the fact there was an article about Zodiac the day prior seems more logical as to why an ad was placed the very next day.

Fred died the day the article about Zodiac was written. If it was a reference to Fred, that is one heck of a coincidence as it would seem someone saw the article, killed Fred, then took out a personal ad.

It seems highly improbable that Fred M’s death (car accident) and the article are related. The ad follows the next day. Related to Fred’s death – or related to the article? Or to neither? I’m no statistician, but if I had to put money on it, I’d probably go with the second, i.e. that the ad was prompted somehow by the article.

The connection remains unclear, though.

The article mentions the fact that Armstrong is no longer Toschi’s partner. The ad speaks of "your partner" being "deep in real estate". Another connection – of sorts. But, again, the meaning isn’t clear at all.
