Another question is, how would one acquire a scar deep enough to show up on a fingerprint?

Could it point to a manual job or military background.

It could just as easily mean he cut himself making a salad, or had an accident with a hook while fishing as a little boy.

It could. I just find it interesting that it could suggest a hands-on person or just someone a bit reckless in every day life.

I don’t think it suggests that. It suggests that at one point, he had a cut on his finger. Speculation on what caused that cut is just speculation. There are a million and one ways he could have received that cut at any period in his life. There are far too many variables to use that detail to suggest some larger meaning.

Prints were also found on Cheri Jo Bates’ car IIRC!

So if the murder realized he left prints there, then on Brian’s car, that might explain the wiping of Stine’s cab.

Three prints from three different murders!!! Do they match???

Possibly cut himself during Cheri Jo’s murder ?

I was thinking this. Defensive wounds? Cheri fought back.

Hi,

Could a guy who was an auto mechanic in the 1940s get a scar like that?

ANYONE could get a scar like that. Literally anyone. You don’t have to commit a murder or be in the military to get a cut on your finger.

Yes, or the knife slipped in his hand, this is common during knife attack’s as blood is like a lubricant and causes the hand to
slip on the knife handle.

Very true monarch, The fact that Zodiac was right handed and that scar is on the middle finger of the right hand, it could very well be from a slip of the knife that killed Cheri Jo, it could have also gone through the glove at Berryessa , Cecelia was moving around a lot.

Either way Zodiac left a print in Stine’s cab that showed he has a scar on his right middle finger.
I have no idea if that was the print used by the expert who spoke on Monster, or if there are other prints left by the Zodiac that we haven’t seen? It is obvious that Kane did not have any scar on his right hand prints. Now you cab see that for yourselves.

The Lake Berryessa car door prints look like the left hand to me, but if they are actually the right hand, then there is what looks like a few scars on those prints. That could mean a match to the bloody print in the cab. We have a few people in LE that read this site, who might be able to tell us if the car door prints from Lake B are the right or left hand?

I am a 27-year old female. I have a scar on a finger on my right hand from an accidental puppy bite/rip. My dog still had her puppy teeth (which are sharper than adult teeth), I was grabbing a fabric softener out of her mouth and her little tooth punctured my finger. Obviously it stung like a massive bee sting or huge shot, so I jerked my hand up, which unfortunately caused the tooth to just shred my finger for about an inch. Freak accident, eight stitches and a scar for life. If I would have just slowly pulled my finger away it would have been a band-aid and small puncture wound instead of a trip to the ER and stitches.
TL/DR – attaching meaning to a scar on a finger as something sinister (like from wielding a knife in an attack) might not be the best road to travel down.

If you are a "serial killer" who enjoys stabbing people with knives, that is the most logical explanation.

I just heard episode 14 on Monster. It was about DNA and how hard it is to get enough to convict someone, that we need more than just DNA.

Paul Holes whom I adore, said that we do not know if there is enough DNA and we don’t know if what we have is the Zodiac’s DNA or someone else. (That is still an opinion)

I believe that there is Zodiac DNA , or we would have been told there isn’t any by now from VPD.

I wonder if a butcher or a fisherman would suffer from a collection of cut marks on their fingers? But yes, for sure. If you are a serial killer who uses a knife, it’s logical to think that specific killer might have a scar or two on their fingers/hands.

I doubt the police would use a small scar on a finger as a clue to weed out or nail potential suspects.

You are missing the point, which is that Zodiac left a print that had a scar in Paul Stine’s Cab. If he left another print at another crime scene that also has a scar on the same finger, then more than likely those were Zodiac’s prints!

I agree w Sandy. It feels like new info that cross checks to something else.

Thanks, that is exactly right. I call it connecting the dots! There was so much communication sent to the police from Zodiac , there has to be plenty of DNA that hasn’t been checked yet? Its a matter of collecting it all and testing it. There is now touch DNA that we didn’t have before, even a few tiny cells on the letters can have enough. I am not ready to give up hope of finding a full DNA profile on Zodiac.

I am looking forward to next weeks Monster Podcast , I was told that it has had 12 million hits already!
