I apologize if I’m posting this in the wrong forum. I’m brand new to the site and am still learning the protocol.
I apologize too if what I’m posting about is a silly waste of time. Let me explain….

In the early 2000s – I don’t recall when exactly, but perhaps late 2003 or 2004 – I borrowed Michael Kelleher’s "This Is the Zodiac Speaking": Into the Mind of a Serial Killer from the Honolulu Public Library, main branch. If you spend any time in libraries, you know that, to preserve the dust jacket, they will typically cover a hardback book’s dust jacket with transparent plastic, the ends of which are taped down to the inside of the covers. This copy was wrapped like that.

At some point in the reading I had what I can only describe as an act of intuition. I peeled away the tape to remove the plastic cover and I looked under the flaps of the dust jacket. Carefully glued under the back’s flap was the attached note. God only knows why I was moved to do that, but I was shocked none-the-less.

I’ve sat on this for more than a decade for two reasons. Primarily, I don’t have any faith that this note is actually related to the case in any substantive way. I believe it was simply some oddball’s idea of a clever trick. Second, I felt that sharing that note on a site like this would likely be met with accusations that I myself had made this to have a bit of fun. Though you have no reason to trust me, I can assure you I discovered it exactly as I described.

It’s been a few years since I last had a go at researching any of the seemingly random words and phrases on the note. I don’t recall coming up with anything even remotely related to the case when I did. Perhaps there are some things that do relate to the case on this note; if there is, then surely someone on this site will recognize it. However, I think if anything is actually related to the case, it is probably just known, established facts. Again, I really believe this was simply some bored, weird person’s idea of fun.

For what it’s worth, I give this silly note to the world.

Googled this and ..Grandma Whittier, Becky Topple and Keller-Brown are Ken Kesey characters.

"Dire Wolf" is Zodiac in the Jerry Garcia Grateful Dead song of that name… "I wrote that song when the Zodiac Killer was out murdering in San Francisco. Every night I was coming home from the studio, and I’d stop at an intersection and look around, and if a car pulled up, it was like, this is it, I’m gonna die now. It became a game. Every night I was conscious of that thing, and the refrain got to be surreal to me. "Please don’t murder me, *please* don’t murder me…""

This Z-Kesey-Gyke link may be inspired by whatever gave the writer of your note the same ideas…

This was written by " Michael D Brown" possibly?

He’s posted online as " Yellowbus"…. there is a lengthy thread and he is a very strange individual to say the least.

Can any Hindi readers translate the prefix to the email address in the note?

010110001,

Could you please provide a maximum resolution .png image of the note with a straight top-down view, a white background and uniformly illuminated.

Thanks

I recall a Michael D. Brown who claimed he found a satchel with "300 pages of cryptography" matching Zodiac’s under a bridge in Hawaii.

I tried to clean it up a little –

Then tried feeding it into http://www.i2ocr.com/free-online-hindi-ocr

Which gave me this result:

नंच्चेनंद्धाकां

Google Translate turns that into Nanchchenandhakan which doesn’t seem to mean anything. Perhaps some tweaking to get the correct symbols is required. Or there is some substitution scheme going on (each symbol representing an English letter).

I have a slightly higher resolution /jpg photo, though I wasn’t able to upload it due to the site’s maximum file size upload constraints. Any idea how I can do that?

I do not have another angle available, unfortunately, and I no longer live in Hawaii. A reader who can get to the Hawaii State Library (478 S King St, Honolulu) could take another photo. I’ve just checked the online catalog and the book is still in circulation at that branch.

Just a third of the way through what you have on this and guy and….wow.

I remember talking to a friend in Honolulu about what I’d found and he said "likely the note writer is not Zodiac, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he thinks he is Zodiac."

Bizarre stuff, though probably mostly rubbish. However, no stone unturned, right? We know that Honolulu has been often sited as being possibly significant in the case. I see lots of minor points in Michael Brown’s posts I’d like to bring up. I will post my thoughts later tonight.

I recall a Michael D. Brown who claimed he found a satchel with "300 pages of cryptography" matching Zodiac’s under a bridge in Hawaii.

Here are a few thoughts and questions about Michael D. Brown’s claims:

1. "Only two thoughts crossed my mind: the guy was nuts and he has the same name as myself "michaelbrown"."
How did he identify the "author" of the script he found as being named "Michael Brown."

2. "Within 15 minutes I knew it deserved examination. So I turned it in."
Turned it in where, to the Honolulu PD? If so, what did they do with it?

3. "Zodiac is an Aborigine dob10/14/41"
10/14/41 is the same date of birth Michael D. Brown indicated for himself in his myspace page. See: http://www.myspace.com/zodiackiller96817/photos/617761 8″> https://web.archive.org/web/20110808185 … os/6177618

4. "The name I have posted is generic enough not to cause anyone harm."
To which name is he referring? The "Michael Brown" he referred to earlier as the author of the scripts he found?

5. In his http://www.alien-ufos.com : profile, he listed is date of birth as "November 30"
His dubious claims are not helped by the question of truthfulness that comes where he indicates his date of birth as "10-14-1941" on myspace, but "November 30" here

My simple assessment is there is nothing, absolutely nothing here beyond a peculiar eccentric who enjoys the attention.

I turned it in to the FBI.

I know his name is Michael D Brown from documents in the satchel.
His dob is Oct 14, 1941.

I’ve communicated with people who know him.

Any other questions?

These Vahana (Sanskrit for vehicle)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vahana

Vahana (Sanskrit: वाहन, Vāhana, literally "that which carries, that which pulls") denotes the being, typically an animal or mythical entity, a particular Hindu deity is said to use as a vehicle. In this capacity, the vahana is often called the deity’s "mount". Upon the partnership between the deity and his vahana is woven much iconography and mythology. Deities are often depicted riding (or simply mounted upon) the vahana. Other times, the vahana is depicted at the deity’s side or symbolically represented as a divine attribute. The vahana may be considered an accoutrement[1] of the deity: though the vahana may act independently, they are still functionally emblematic or even syntagmatic of their "rider". The deity may be seen sitting or standing on the vahana. They may be sitting on a small platform called a howdah, or riding on a saddle or bareback.[2] Vah in Sanskrit means to carry or to transport.
