Re: Park ranger

I’m sorry if this has been discussed before. But I’m curious about the park ranger who was regarded as a suspect at one time – apparently he looked like the sketch…and he was pretty sketchy in himself. This is the original thread about him (I presume this thread was copied from the old forum):

viewtopic.php?f=25&t=484

Now, in that thread there’s an FBI doc pertaining to the guy – in which his name is redacted. However, in what I presume is a later version of this document there’s a slip up:

(Older version on the left).

Link to FBI files (the document in question is on page 120):

https://docs.google.com/folderview?id=0 … HVGOW5HY2s

The name is a bit blurry but it looks like "Hemmings" to me.

He was cleared, it would seem, by fingerprints – and I’m not suggesting he shouldn’t have been. But the ranger angle is nevertheless an interesting one – and I would like to think LE considered this guy a plausible suspect based on something beyond a mere likeness to the sketch (there is mention of an episode where he was hauling a suspicious looking bag of some kind – but it’s a bit unclear what it’s all about).

I vaguely recall something about a Ray or Dennis Land in conjunction with Berryessa. Is that who you are talking about?

That’s weird – I find it on page 120 (the stuff concerning the park ranger begins on p. 113). It is the sixth document in the folder:

https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0Bx2Zx … 5HY2s/edit

The one titled "Section 1, part 2" (186 pages total).

EDIT Ah, I get it now – apparently you can’t link directly to a specific document in the folder, the link will take you to the main folder no matter what. But, yes – it’s the sixth document (the one before the year planner document).

Ok figured it out,you have to click the blue OPEN button to view all the docs in each section. I see on pg 120 discussion of the ranger, but where do you see a blurry name?

If we’re on the same page – literally – it’s just below the middle of the page, the beginning of a new paragraph: "Hemmings (?) has been employed in Yosemite…"

That’s the one. His FBI number also appears just below – and that too was redacted in the older (?) version.

It can’t be a question of his name being un-redacted un purpose either – because it’s redacted both above and below this particular part of the text.
