Tarbox sounds like a good man. A standup guy. And it wouldn’t be the first time a good guy had been put in a corner like that.

Tarbox was disbarred in 1975…I’ll just link to this post from ZK:

Ah, so Tarbox isn’t exactly all that clean after all.
Tarbox couldn’t be Z could he?
Seems a little bit above the age bracket required.
Although young at heart, I might suspect.

I knew he was disbarred. I had read about it before; however to my knowledge he has never tried to make money off of his story and that leads me to believe he could be telling the truth. I think it’s possible that someone came into his office making these claims, I just have a lot of doubt that it was actually Zodiac. People make false confessions on a regular basis (some that truly believe they committed crimes they did not because of mental illness). Mr Tarbox in my opinion has not released enough info for me to believe that Zodiac did in fact come into his office and confess, although I believe he truly feels it was him.

Could a story like this be intended primarily to benefit…Zodiac? I remember the caller a few weeks ago on "Coast to Coast" who said Richard Gaikowski is a protected figure of sorts in San Francisco. Mr. X may have fit this category as well. In the story relayed by Mr. Tarbox, we are told the MM guy doesn’t look like the guy the teens and the police officers saw, and he has a typical American name as well — interesting how both observations point away from the suspects I mentioned. Furthermore, Allen is let off the hook and Mr. Tarbox is as well due to attorney-client privilege. Perhaps someone was interested in protecting the legacy of a Z suspect and muddying up the suspect waters as well — yes, I know I am in tinfoil-hat territory but this scenario crossed my mind more than once.

By Mr. Tarbox being "let off the hook," I mean he is not obligated to release his name.

Hard to say with Tarbox. Possible the mystery guy was Z,but also possible that he was some low mid level felon/nut job wanting to create mystery. If it’s the latter then there’s possibly more support for the team Z theory.

Not sure if this has been posted previously, but this blog has a letter that Mr. Tarbox wrote regarding the Mayor Moscone/Harvey Milk killings.

Ah yes, now it works.
Don’t know what that was all about.
Thanks.

Although the blogster seems more obsessed with Tarbox’s decor than anything else. :?

Has anyone looked into the members of the California maritime academy in Vallejo during the time of Tarboxs guy. The only academy for the merchant marines on the west coast is in Vallejo I believe. A lot of research has gone into Riverside and Vallejo HS yearbooks but I think they have yearbooks as well.

I did spend a good amount of time paging through the yearbooks — many are available online through the alumni website. I was not really sure what to look for — without a name from Tarbox it’s tough. The school has had a lot of ups and downs over the years.

Tarbox said he thought the name was nothern euopean. In norway, sweden and danmark most people have lastname ending on sen or son. Like Andersen or Andersson, Hansen or Hansson.
In sweden its son, and norway and danmark its sen.
Maybe that can be a place to start?

Sorry if my english is bad:-)

Theres alot of other names from the scandinavian countries that are very common in us that not have the sen/son ending. Give me a link and i can very easily pick them out.

Everyone knows about the "norse" connection, but there could also be another hint of an nothern european/scandinavian origin, and that is deer lodge montana connection. Between 1825-1920 about 2-3 million people emigrated from the scandinavian countries(norway, sweden, denmark and finland) to us. Today 4% of the population in us have scandinavian origin. But in the nothern states like minnesota, montana, north dakota and south dakota its 25%. Feks in montana 12% of the population is of norwegian origin alone.

Sorry if my english is bad:-)
