Let’s wait for the announcement
My contact is a lieutenant
Today, Vallejo, Napa, Riverside and SF PD announced a major breakthrough in the criminal case known as "The Zodiac killer":
Although not yet an arrest has been made, Kenneth German has been ruled out as being ‘the Zodiac’. "He just didn’t do it", said Seargant A. J. Fake of the local Dixon authority. "Just an innocent guy, like all of us. Even more innocent than my own wife". The press conference even caught international attention: In Wuhan, Democratic Republic of China, the Major of the city, Mr. In-Flu-Enz said that "there is no SARS around anymore since the Zodiac was caught". Philipp P., a nearby bystander, while grabbing his brown bag commented on it as well, reaching for the microphone: "I always knew it was him: He owned a knife, thread, needle and shoe polish – this could not have been accidential anymore. He even owned clothesline. I have seen it in his garden!". On request, former victim Brian C. H. indicated that he had always known that Kenneth German was not the right guy but had actually feared to talk about it. Authorities continue with the investigation. QT-News, follow us on QTTV.com
I don’t think this announcement has anything to do with Kenneth German
My contact from the Napa PD just said "stay tuned" – I really think something is coming now.
The Napa PD?
Sorry, Sheriff’s Office that is.
Well "stay tuned" for how long?
I have no clue. Literally all he said was to stay tuned. I don’t know if they are currently working on something or already have results in and are about to announce something.
Could you please go back to your source and ask him how long we are expected to "stay tuned?"
Is this source planning a retirement soon? Sick leave?
I will ask but seeing as he is a friend of my uncle I don’t want to push it too hard. I’ll report back once I hear more.

Save the energy, there is NOTHING imo. Not from Dixon. Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t expect Genetic Genealogy results but definitely not Dixon, Kenneth German Phillip P.

As I said, I don’t think it is Kenneth German related but I don’t see why our family friend would say "stay tuned" if there wasn’t anything at all. Also, multiple people seem to have been informed something is coming. I have a feeling there will probably be some new information in the case, don’t think we’re talking an arrest here. But let’s see!

Could be, indeed, waiting for it with the cipher still to be solved…multiple people?

Again, I don’t think this has anything to do with DNA or identifying a suspect. If that were the case, the DOJ, FBI, and other LE agencies would be involved besides just Napa. That would be a big f’n deal, and every cop and agent would want to be at that press conference.
If there is an announcement coming from Napa, one would have to assume that it has to do with Lake Berryessa. Probably new evidence has surfaced. Or Napa has decided to reveal evidence that they have had and not shared before. That would still be very interesting, but not on the level of the DNA identification of a suspect.
Maybe someone found the hood and costume under the floorboards of an old cabin they just bought, or a knife and felt tipped pen in the trunk of an old Chevy. Who knows?
However, this is a question I have brought up before and was met with great controversy. If DNA or other evidence reveals the identity of the Zodiac, but he is deceased, what would LE do? Would they hold a press conference and announce the guy’s name and information to the world? Or would they keep it to themselves to protect the privacy of innocent living ancestors? Or would they even be ALLOWED to announce the guilt of someone posthumously based only on genetic geneology? I don’t know the answers to these questions.

There are plenty of cases where perpetrators of terrible crimes have posthumously identified. You can’t libel the dead, especially a serial killer.

"In April 2019, Arthur Rudy Martinez was posthumously identified as the 1977-1978 murderer and rapist of 30-year-old Jane Morton Antunez and 28-year-old Patricia Dwyer Morton in Atascadero, California, Antunez was killed in her car and Dwyer was stabbed to death in her home. Martinez, who’d been paroled after unrelated convictions for attempted murder and rape, lived in the area at the time of the deaths but left soon after, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Ian Parkinson said Wednesday. He moved to Spokane, Wash., and received life sentences there for several robberies and two rapes also in 1978. After 16 years in prison in 1994, he escaped and lived under an alias in California until 2014 when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He returned to Washington state and turned himself in to receive medical treatment in prison, Parkinson said. He died behind bars two months later. The homicide cases were reopened three years ago with the Department of Justice’s Familiar DNA Search Team seeking a familial DNA match to the evidence. Authorities said it led them to a relative of Martinez and a former girlfriend who provided investigators the DNA sample from a razor he had used. A lab determined the DNA from the razor matched that from the crime scenes."

Hi,
From some modern literature on touch DNA:
It is standard practice for crime scene personnel
to wear Personal Protective Equipment
(PPE) such as gloves, face masks, hair nets, and
sometimes whole body suits. When collecting
potential Touch DNA items at a crime scene
it is extremely important that as much PPE as
possible is worn so as to limit the possibility
of contamination via exposed skin, shed hairs,
sweat, or saliva. It is not uncommon to detect
DNA profiles from Detectives, Paramedics,
and Medical Examiners on evidence from cold
cases and it is important that extra precautions
be taken at the modern day crime scene.
Just so you know what you are up against with old, overhandled contaminated samples.
Like I said, count me skeptical.
