After a period of careful reconsideration and refinement of some minor details, the following would serve as a visual summary of what I propose the Halloween Card is intended to communicate, and how it should be read according to a simple direction such as “follow the eyes; look where they’re looking.”

As a plausibly implied starting point, these would be your ‘4’, and the question to be asking is a simple as “Where are they (separately) looking, and how are they relatively distinguished as to form and emphasis (size)?”
