Serial killer Bob Evans has been identified this morning. He is Terry Rasmussen and he lived in Redwood City, CA, in 1968-69. He was a Navy Seabee, an electrician. He was stationed at several western naval bases from 1961 until 1967. He was stationed in Japan, at Okinawa as well. I think this man is the Zodiac Killer.
There is a gap to his whereabouts from 1961 to 1967.

RASMUSSEN again works for “Otto.” He also works in a shoe shop. 1973 RASMUSSEN’s wife and children leave him. 1974 December RASMUSSEN arrives unexpectedly to visit his wife and children in Payson, AZ.
He is in the company of an unidentified female

1978 June RASMUSSEN works for the “Brown & Root” Company (currently KBR) in Houston, TX. Record indicates RASMUSSEN “quit to work elsewhere.” 1978 RASMUSSEN contacts friend in Arizona and asks for money. He states he is in Texas working on an oil rig. 1978 September 28 Divorce finalized. RASMUSSEN’s whereabouts unknown. 1978-1979 (approx.) RASMUSSEN worked at Waumbec Mills as head electrician, Bob Evans. 1980, February RASMUSSEN arrested in Manchester, NH as Robert T. Evans for Issuing a bad check on 12/21/1979 (insufficient funds). 1980, May RASMUSSEN arrested in Manchester, NH as Robert T. Evans for theft of services (electricity). 1980, October RASMUSSEN arrested in Manchester, NH as Robert T. Evans for diverting electric current.
1981, November Denise Beaudin goes missing shortly after Thanksgiving with her 6 month old daughter and her boyfriend, Bob Evans from Manchester, NH.
1984, March – 1985, May RASMUSSEN was hired under name Curtis Kimball by electrical company in Los Alamitos, CA. 1985, May RASMUSSEN arrested in Cypress, CA as Curtis Mayo Kimball for DUI.
1985, November First barrel found adjacent to Bear Brook State Park, Allenstown, NH containing an unidentified adult female (23-33 yoa) and female child (5-11 yoa).
1986, January RASMUSSEN in Santa Cruz County, CA living & working at the Holiday Host RV Park in Scotts Valley under name Gordon Jenson. 1986, June RASMUSSEN abandoned a child (Denise Beaudin’s daughter) in California and fled. 1986, September Fingerprints match between Gordon Jenson and Curtis Kimball confirming they were the same person.

Yes, I noticed he was a late arrival to CA. I was just curious as to where he was stationed when he was in the military. Just to make sure it was not CA from 1961 to 1967.

My buddies neighbor found the first two bodies in the barrelI. We used to deer hunt in that area as well. The story that I read yesterday afternoon indicated specifically, the Rasmussen served at several West Coast Navy bases between 1961-1967. That was printed in the paper. They know this guy was all over the coast at that time. They got Rasmussen for six murders. This isn’t some off the cuff suspect. He is a known serial killer who served in the navy Seabees. He wore glasses, had reddish hair, was assigned to several West Coast navy bases from 1961-1967, he was stationed on Okinawa Japan, he knew electrical schematics, etc. I really like this guy for the Zodiac killings.
Mostly different victim type though – he mainly bumped off women he had relationships with and their (or even his) kids and he concealed bodies. Zodiac committed public executions of mostly young couples for immediate attention.
Also, this guy looks relatively tall & really skinny in 1969 pics whereas Z was mainly described as shorter and heavy set.
How certain should this group be on striking Rasmussen off as a Zodiac suspect?
Like many other suspects, Rasmussen seems to fit. In fact, one of the investigators working on his murder of his wife mentioned his “sing-song” voice and “unusual cadence” to his voice. Exactly how Hartnell described Zodiac’s voice. He has a background in the military and electrical work. He lived in Redwood and has a criminal record in Santa Cruz.
Unfortunately, there are also several things that seem to exclude him. He was living in Arizona until 1970. He doesn’t seem to match the physical description or the sketch. It would seem the LE would have run his prints and/or DNA after his arrest, and that didn’t appear to hit.
Compelling possibilities, but not 100%.

Thank you Chaucer, his repertoire is likely to expand in the coming months but not in a Zodiac way.
Always been interested in known serial killers as Zodiac persons of interest. I think David Carpenter (Trailside Killer) would be the best suspect if he wasn’t conclusively ruled out. The Zodiac crimes would probably be nothing to someone like Rasmussen, though the divergence in MO and victim profiles counts against him.

Paul Holes has a great episode on this case on his podcast “Murder Squad”. He said that the police should have had a massive search of the area after the first barrel was found, but they didn’t. They weren’t buried. They were sitting out in a local dump area with lots of other junk.
