Hi,
There is no question but that it was Qvale. But he was stopped as a potential witness, and was never a suspect until 1999.
Thanks Xcaliber.

Hi,
Viking, I’ve read this thing you keep repeating but it makes no sense to me. How does Z sending a piece of shirt tell everyone he is Qvale and that he lives in the neighborhood? Qvale was stopped as a potential WITNESS not a suspect. Nobody in their right mind would accuse a millionaire of stealing $8 from somebody and killing him to do so. That is what they were looking for the night of the Stine murder, not Zodiac. Just a cab robber, not Zodiac and KQ was not even a suspect in the robbery.

That’s what I am trying to sort out. Someone wrote a letter saying that SFPD goofed up. So if Mr X is the Xodiac who wrote that letter?
Hi,
There is no question but that it was Qvale.
Is that in a police report anywhere? Or did Pelissetti confirm that’s who it was?
Hi,
The reason KQ is definitely the person AP stopped that night is that he has confirmed it time and time again not only to me but also to Jim Dean. In 2008, he identified Qvale by name over the phone to Jim and later he wrote to Jim and said that the person he spoke to was Qvale. He even spelled it right. Whom AP spoke to that night is not a point of contention. I have a lot to say about this meeting between KQ and AP in my book, so I’ll just advise that you read it to see what I say.

OK, thanks.
I just purchased your book on Amazon Kindle and I’m starting on it tonight. I’ve always appreciated your contributions to the case and I look forward to reading your case conceptualization of KQ in much greater detail.
Viking, I have no idea what your knowledge of the case is, but it was officers Fouke and Zelms (in their patrol car) who passed Zodiac on the street. It’s commonly assumed that these were the "two cops" Z referenced in his letter.
It was Pelissetti who encountered KQ, and Pelissetti went alone on foot while his partner (IIRC) stayed behind at the crime scene.
Mike,
Where can I find your book? I am a native s.f.er and am still here. I am going to look at the houses you mentioned. I went to school with Lindsey in High school and had met Rebecca a couple of times at school dances. I think the school where he went when younger on Jackson is ten to twelve blocks from his house so I would think he probably got a ride there with somebody. By the way he was a nice guy with a good sense of humor.

So Mr X. therefore can not be Mr. Z
It seems likely that whoever wrote the letter threatening school children had some knowledge of the teen agers witnessing the Stine murder.

How could Zodiac have known who the witnesses were? Was it published in a newspaper?
