Definitely..I think the Swindle case was mentioned in the ‘Bakersfield Californian‘ on 06.02.1964 (as well as in the ‘San Mateo Times’ on 06.02.1964).

Kathleen Johns drove ‘north on Interstate 5 and onto Highway 99 just before Bakersfield, through Fresno, Merced and Modesto, where she swung left onto Highway 132, a rarely used road‘ before noticing someone in her rear mirror.

Don’t know if related, but victim ‘Scott Allison’ was found bludgeouned to death in a vacant parking lot inside his car while being on his way home to Bakersfield, also was an active army soldier.

Then we got missing person Marilyn Denis Waltz, who went missing on Friday 1st in July 1977 from Bakersfield.

So a Bakersfield connection is – eg. in the Johns case – very likely, together with Vallejo and Riverside this media working suspect makes a good one for sure (killing people to get news..?).

No way Z was a college grad or had any collegiate learning ,(maybe a semester dropout though) or held down a prof job. IMO
although maybe close family members did.
I see a blue collar suspect all the way . His hints at higher learning /culture , just a diversion .
