Anyone able to explain why and how many Zodiac letters are painted yellow?
My understanding is that the back of these letters is bleached white normal paper, with the fronts with the applied yellow effect, anyone able to confirm?
I noticed the paper only being discoloured on one side from tom’s recent pod cast.

Surprised no one knows the answer off the cuff.

I looked into this, basic answer it doesn’t serve much purpose if it colours the entire page, it’s suppose to show prints.
not saying your wrong, i’m not so sure that’s the full answer here.
Edit: i think your right, just can’t find the definitive answer.

Besides the forensic chemicals they’ve sprayed on them, age is another factor. Certain types of paper gets yellow with time (and any kind of chemical moisture probably just accelerates that).

If this is the case, why weren’t both sides treated for fingerprints? If Z composes his letter, then picks it up to look at it, he’s probably got his thumb on the front of the letter, and his other 4 fingertips holding the back. For that matter, he has to pull it out of its package, set it down, write, pick it up, fold it… if only one side is yellow due to checking for fingerprints, that seems to make no sense.
Ahh good points on color I didn’t “see”it. I assumed paper was made that way. For me, it seems so awkward to wear gloves when hand writing a letter. Did he practice it then test out at home to look for prints?
Marshall makes a good point,
Anyone have original photos of the Z letters at the time?
