Great work VC, this is proving very interesting.
I see what you mean about brands all merging together in one’s mind, I found one earlier that I thought I had to mention but I can’t for the life of me remember where I saw it. It was, I’m sure, either in the collection you’ve been concentrating on, or closely related – what jumped out at me was that the brand I saw was exactly the same as Ted Kaczynski’s inverted peace symbol – I know that’s a bit of a curve ball and probably just zync but thought I’d put that one out there. These brand collections, and your peek-a-boo canyon find, are very promising, I hope it leads somewhere else.

Thanks! I actually just wish I had more time to devote to it….but I have a job and 3 kids so it is just a hobby that even my wife isn’t a fan of so that cuts the time back even more.

Really I just like solving things and enjoy a really hard challenge. I research things a lot for work so the research part comes naturally.

Anywho…brands don’t seem to fit everyone’s POI, but I tend to work from the facts and findings and try to "scatter search" and if something fits….add it into the mix and narrow down the subject field accordingly.

Sure I have my own POI, but if I find evidence he is completely unrelated to the Zodiac in some way then I will be the first to continue researching until I can narrow it down to another suspect.

I really just have a passion for research…Z is not a passion.

Good to know that you are not one of those obsessed by the subject VC,
makes it even more interesting your possible results, I believe we have that in common.
Have no importance in the "Z board", and not much knowledge, and also have higher priorities, but what I’m seeing, I repeat, is, from what I’ve seen so far, one of the best ways.

See…another thing I can’t help but connect here is the letter where Z wrote:

"She went to the slaughter like a lamb"

Now if this proves to be an authentic Z letter it is VERY interesting to me because the Halloween symbol that Otto Kuehster used….well the Kuehster family was one of 5 families that founded a school….

The school name was Lamb School

Did you find any connections with these brand symbols and Montana? It would be interesting to find out if there were any ranches in the Deer Lodge area that used some of these brand symbols or something similar.

I have not found a brand connection, but the Grant-Kohrs Ranch was connected to the Deer Lodge prison. I believe the prisoners often worked on the ranch, and one of the ranch founders, Conrad Kohrs, server on the board of prison commissioners. The prison and the ranch were on the same land as far as I can tell…about 3.5 miles apart.

lets see a cowboy tools were a gun, pistol and/ or rifle, a knife , a rope , and fire at night to keep warm …hmm where have I heard those 4 things used together before ? oh well it will come to me .
At round up time many extra cowboys were hired to herd on the roundup and cattle drive .

Actually…i think Z had a handicap. I feel certain he was allowed into the military in some fashion. I also feel certain he had some kind on handicap…whether social or Intellectual.

Just a thought…

What if Z was a livestock brander? So these film companies move in and want to use ranches. What if Z is hired as a "consultant" and travels to a ranch, for a film, within the vicinity of the killings? What if Z is just a brand specialist and gets off on harming animals through branding?

Didn’t Z say we would not recognize him because of diguises?

Just some thoughts….

I have also found that the Conley McTague ranches were a LARGE part of the operation of the prison. They often had prison labor working on the ranches and slaughterhouse there….12 ranches in total that I can find…..can’t find the brands though. I doubt these guys had anything to do with the ranches at the time Z would have been there, but likely the ranches were still around and using prison labor. Either way, the history of Conley and McTague with the Deer Lodge prison is quite extensive…..especially for Conley.
