I am still convinced that there is something hidden within the 408 cipher whether it be in the coded cipher text itself, or more likely within the decoded message itself I don’t know, but that message "I like killing because it is so much fun" is written, to my amateur eye anyway, as written using words and sentences that are not natural and are constructed this way deliberately in order to allow a message to fit concealed within.

Plus, the idea that Zodiac would go out of his way to encrypt a message using a form of cipher complete with its own key, and do this just to rant a load of absolute nonsense "I like killing people…" is just not something worth doing unless there really is something hidden within the broken message itself.

I wondered the very same things in the past and possibly there were replies to the query. I can’t remember now. Perhaps a refresher answer from our code experts would help. Why is the decoded message so stunted in it’s translation? Is there a reason, from the POV of those familiar with codes, does that tells us something about his code level ability? i.e, is it how it is because he used up so much of his brain power just tackling the cipher that he thought writing practically in monosyllabic would, or did make it easier to do the task?

Or ..is there something more to it. Personally I’m not sure there is but, as I said, a refresher answer from the code gurus wouldn’t go a miss. Or, if you can find where I asked such questions just link to that thread, if it’s been carried over. Actually it must have been because Dave brought the whole cipher thread/s over from the old forum as a transfer test. And that’s why we like to keep posts in the relevant places, it makes live easier when you have to move stuff. or even just find them.

Well there are anagrams, words and even sentences the can be formed in the decoded 408 by using different techniques such as rail fence method etc. I mean using the snake like rail method I can see a sentence "Living next to girl at the springs." You know the only way to ever know for sure if this was a deliberate hidden clue or simply a coincidence? He’d (Z) would have to tell us and if he doesn’t there will always be as many critics criticising the claim as there are those who believe it.

Anyway, lets look on the bright side, we’ll probably get a DNA hit when there’s nobody alive to prosecute. We all say we are here to try. either individually or as a collective effort, to solve this case but then if the mystery is no more, what will we all do then? I am going to have to take up Bowls or something! Lol. You know what, I think in 50 years time, even a century down the line, I can see these sites still being open and a new generation using them because this case, no matter if you can show DNA & Fingerprint hit for a certain suspect, there are going to be non-believers who will simply refuse to believe that Suspect A was the Zodiac and go to extremes of declaring ‘Set up’ or ‘Conspiracy’, ‘Cross Contamination in Lab DNA samples’ and anything else to dismiss Scientific Evidence as circumstantial. I wouldn’t blame people if they did, I think this case has taken on a life of its own in the last half a century and usually interest fades or people move on and leave the past behind but thankfully there is not the slightest loss of interest in this case, if anything it’s capturing more and more attention.
I think that there will continue to be those come along who are, like myself, predisposed to becomes Z junkies after trying the Zodiac drug a few times. It’ll hook many of them to the point of obsession with a need and desire just to know his name. The Zodiac case, to use a fitting analogy, is like an alcoholic drink that many will simply try it and not see what the big fuss is about. Then there are others who have passing interest, or a social interest in the case. And then you have a third type, ie, Me lol. They should have an addiction centre for Zodiac junkies. I’d be first in line.
