Have you guys seen Corey Starliper’s solution to the 340?

Back on topic, yes, almost everyone has seen Starliper’s solution. Not only was his key created on the fly, his solution was as well.

Wait, this is actually off-topic…

I apologize, I am New to researching this case and I am new to this site, I am really trying not to get in the way or disturb the existing community in any way.

I know most of the people here have been researching this case for an incredibly long time, and some have been very involved, I also understand that some can get aggravated when those newer to researching this case act as such. I just ask for a little patience while I am orienting myself with the site and the case itself. I am a quick learner.

I read a quick article relating to Corey Starliper and his solution, but it never described how he obtained it. I wanted to know exactly how he thinks he broke the code, but have not really looked into it in depth yet.

Personally, I feel it must have been generated in a manner similar to what you would describe as "on the fly".

I also find the idea the cipher key was created on the fly interesting, but I got fixated on it a little bit with regards to the "<zodiac sign>ZO<delta>AIK" at the bottom row.

(Delta is the greek letter D and looks like Δ. Delta is also used for "D" in the "ITU phonetic alphabet and figure code")
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta_(letter)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO_phonetic_alphabet

It sure looks like a signature.

But why is the order of A and I mixed up?

I think this suggests he did intend to encode his name into the cipher to show off his skill or something, but made a mistake along the way.

Borkky-

Just to throw this in. Things to do with algebra are sometimes known as algebraic. And so on:

Aram – Aramaic
Hebrew – Hebraic
Jewish – Judaic
Paradise – Paradisaic
Pharisees – Pharisaic
Theban – Thebaic

So, perhaps:

Zodiac – Zodaic

EDIT TO ADD: And I do mean, in some seriousness, that was possibly to mean that the cipher was written in Zodaic ("Zoh Day Ik")
Beyond that idea – of ZODAIC as a ‘language’ – I have no idea. But maybe that is what he meant?

I think this suggests he did intend to encode his name into the cipher to show off his skill or something, but made a mistake along the way.

One possibility is that this sort-of signature is in the "filler" at the end of the message that is only there to make the grid complete, something which is also present in Z408. Since the filler doesn’t have to decode to anything sensible, he could use whatever symbols he wanted. Rather than have them be random as before, he stuck his "signature" in that stretch.

This wouldn’t affect the "on the fly" hypothesis at all since those symbols don’t follow from an encoding. I also think this on-the-fly hypothesis is strong and could be used very profitably to guide search algorithms, by constraining the space of keys to those which would be likely using such an "on the fly" construction method.
