Thought I’d share. This was posted on Zodiac Killer Mystery Forum. Thought it was somewhat strange.

Hello ”balloon.captain.66”.

Your ”presentation” looks very interesting.

You would be welcome back to explain it,in more detail [?].

On first inspection, you have not employed exclusivity in substitution, with the ”my name is —-” cipher.”Juggling” is only juggling,if one employs three balls,or more.As with codes – in its rudimentary form, unless exclusivity is employed, then ”it doesn’t count”.

The name ”secret pal” is not all together unusual,or unique. But,all Zodiac enthusiasts are aware of its connotation,in relation to the case of The Zodiac Killer.

Who is ”John” to whom you refer ?

What is the significance of St.Patrick’s Day ? Are you aware that this could be provocative,at best ? Even to followers of St.Patrick.

Your presentation looks like a ”happy affair”,but I would suggest that, you owe it to yourself to return here, and explain what you are offering up,as a post, not least,a thread [?].

If your intentions are sincere, you would be welcome.

Thank you.

Hi Rubislaw32,

I apologize, I thought yesterday’s date was significant. I must be mistaken.
I have provided all the information necessary to unlock many large aspects of the puzzle.
He was and is very clever and I find it amusing that so many people are convinced of the guilt of a handful of imbeciles.
That being said, I’m not holding anyone’s hand. I’d like to see him turn himself in.
His web is twisted but not impenetrable.

Good of you to get back to this site,”balloon captain”.Respect to you.

Much artwork invested on your pastiche of Zodiac’s ”attempted” artwork.

You could take more of an interest in the case of The Zodiac Killer [?].Even, become a member, here.

”levity” is permitted [!] – but obviously, certain standards to adhere to.

Thank you,again.

This image startled me when it was first posted and it has been bothering me ever since. It’s my firm belief that whoever designed this have not only may have solved this particular cipher but pinpointed a potential suspect in the case. First of all, I’m a data analyst by trade so I began by trying to take a crack at figuring out how they came to this conclusion using a fairly simple algorithm. Taking every known zodiac symbol and creating a library of key sets of every permutation I looked to see how many iterations would be needed to arrive at the phrase "goosechaseogr" using a rotating/variable key switch. Meaning to say that for every instance a character shifts so does the key set and thus it’s value. The answer is 3. Only 3! Using those 3 key sets the only discernible thing to appear is indeed the phrase "goosechaseogr". In my opinion this phrase, if true, may have not only served as an insult to the authorities but also may have contained hidden yet possibly true information into his actual identity.
The link that balloon.captain.66 provided having to do with a controversy between astronomers Urbain Jean Joseph Le Verrier and John Couch Adams between 1845-1846 over which man discovered the planet Neptune first is compelling. Adams had famously lead researchers on a 6 week goose chase and Le Verrier was referred to as an ogre. I find the it to be more than coincidental that Nick Kollerstrom used the word "ogre" and suspect he may have been paraphrasing from documentation from that period. The Zodiac was highly intelligent and would have likely stumbled across this incident given his propensity toward astronomy. I’m not currently inclined to sort that out.

Now as for the card itself. It was posted exactly 50 years to the day after the first Zodiac killing. That tells me whoever the author or authors of this greeting card are had been working on this for a number of years. About the card. I’ve been able to ascertain a few other key things, the card itself is about as difficult to decipher as the ciphers themselves.
Flipped upside down you will see "6f-4e A 2 Z" this is a chess move, probably a significant check-mate and I presume "A 2 Z" means "Aquarius to Zodiac" given the multiple instances of the Aquarius symbol. This whole card seems to be a sophisticated attack on the Zodiac himself, particularly his ego. The two blue shields appear to indicate exactly how to identify both the author of the card and the Zodiac himself as the author had come to believe. I can’t figure out much other than some of the elements seem have something to do with birth dates or something to that effect, but on the Zodiac shield in Braille is clearly the word "NERD". I believe in the upper left shield the author may have used a similar variable key set system to decipher another part of the 304 note.

""I like killing people because it is so much fun it is more fun than killing wild game in the forrest because man is the most hongertue animal of all to kill something give eryetheyo a thrilling experience it is even better than getting your rocks off with a girl the best part of it I athae when I die I will be reborn in paradice and all the I have killed will become my slaves I will not give you my name because you will trs to sloi down or atop my collecting of slaves for my afterlife ebeo riet emeth hpiti."

"ebeo riet". Why is this significant? If the authors are correct the Zodiac may have cleverly disguised further information leading to his true identity.
Glen Ellen and Rose Land are both neighborhoods in Sonoma County in California. I haven’t yet determined how to verify any legitimacy in regard to these "duel ciphers" but something tells me there may be something to it. I can only presume the chicken to be a further insult but perhaps not.

I have no concrete evidence to suggest this card isn’t some form of hoax, but for example where the "Are you feeling lucky" reference is slightly comical, the introduction "Dear Sirs and Mums" sounds like something Jack the Ripper would say. As Mike Sechrest has suggested WHY post the card on some random forum and not just deliver information to investigators as there is probably some kind of reward? I find that deeply unsettling. Also whoever created this image exhibited both a kinship and and adversarial agenda which I find worrisome. If they truly did decipher something that complex and were inspired to do so with a nightmarish greeting card on the 50th anniversary of the Cheri Jo Bates murder WHY?

I emailed balloon.captain.66 several months ago with no response.

There is a lot to be inferred from the Chinese characters but I don’t speak or read Chinese, if anyone knows someone who can you should invite them to this forum because this shouldn’t be totally ignored. The St Patrick’s card is clearly not a joke.

Goosechase provides another link to hunting. LHR provided direct access to the waterfowl hunting areas east of Benicia. Hundreds of Californians from all walks of life
were able to frequent those areas. Public hunting lands were available and many private clubs were also located there. Goose hunting was more prevalent the Sacramento
Valley, but not a great distance away. There is another similarity on the card to E Clampus Vitus. Anyone else with me on this?

"Are you feeling lucky", are like the words used in the Dirty Harry movie. St Patrick’s day was Darlene’s birthday. I saw a picture drawn by the stalker who likes to torment both Darlene’s sister Pam and myself. The picture drawn was a leprechaun with a hat and four leaf clovers like the one on this card , he wrote" you know what this means" ( Or something like that ?)

The words imbecile and Lucky were also used recently on a bathroom wall at Diablo Valley collage Dec 12th. It was a threat to kill and signed with a Z and the yr 68 for the 50th anniversary of Lake Herman rd that was coming up in 8 days. He drew a gun at the bottom near the 68 and drew what looks like a bullet hole in the upper left. ( David Faraday was shot on the left side of his head) I received 3 phone calls that afternoon , like the calls I have received before from my Z suspect. (He lets me know when he is near by).

Diablo Valley collage was where Patricia King’s body was found murdered on March 5th 1970 , she was thought to be a possible Zodiac victim. (She had just left the Gym area.)
There was a basket ball game being played on Dec 12th in that Gym. It would be pretty easy for a elderly man to be there that day when families were watching the game. The printing on that note were very Z like.

To me that card just looks like something I could easily do with photoshop. It’s computer made. In my opinion no one should waste their time with it.
