I ran across a couple of things in the Ukiah CA newspaper that mention Zodiac. The first was probably a prank call, there were no follow-up articles. The second, a guy claiming to be Zodiac but he would have been too young in 1968 and 1969. I did find it a little interesting that he was from Modesto.

Good and interesting finds, Seagull.

I think we can all rule out Richard (In the 3rd article) is/was Zodiac. Being 19 years of age in 1974 when arrested would mean that he’d have been 14/15 when Zodiac was active.

The first article also speaks of a caller claiming to be Zodiac and speaks in a ‘deep, adult voice’. While I do think Zodiac was in the 35-45 age range in 1968/69, it appears that, accroding to Hartnell and Dave Slaight, he sounded as if he was in his Twenties.

Good finds thought. :-)

…they may be dealing with one or more ersatz Zodiacs–other psychotics eager to get into the act, or perhaps even other murderers eager to lay their crimes at the real Zodiac’s doorstep. L.A. Times, 1969
