Does the hood look familiar?
Square top and all…

Not only did the Zodiac watch game shows,
he acted them out too!

It’s a paper bag…..if that is what he was going for then he could have just used a paper bag.

How did he act out a game show?

Notice how this paper bag makes the man appear even taller than he is.

Sandy, the hood my boyfriend had on when he came out dressed in the bizarre scary outfit that I took to be a Halloween costume looked very much like this now that I see it! It was black however and had an awful smell. When I asked about it, he said he’d made it and used either black ink or shoe polish (now I’m pretty sure it was one of these two but know definitely the hood was black and had a very strong smell).

I just can’t remember for sure if it was paper or made from black felt and that he’d used the paper bag as a pattern. I think it was probably the paper though because of the odor. The bib with the cross and circle was separate and made from either black felt or was made from an old tee-shirt or sweat shirt. I’m almost 100 per cent sure he told me he’d gone to a fabric store and bought the felt and used an old shirt as a pattern.

Also, there was no opening for the mouth or nose or just one and not both. I do know there was the eye opening and the absence of the other opening(s) also contributed to the look of added height. Also, my boyfriend had stuffed his footwear with newspapers or some type of heel lifts to make himself look taller. I’m not sure if he had boots on or the style of shoes known as "Desert Boots"…I think they were boots and he was not able to walk normally in them. The opening for the eyes were slits rather than round holes which made it very creepy. He had glasses under or clipped on somehow like Bryan described. I’m remembering them as aviator sunglasses worn over the hood somehow or under and think they were underneath it.

Does it make him look taller or just have an abnormally huge head?

True!
Do you know for a fact he didn’t?
You only have two witness who saw his
disguise/hood, and did they know it wasn’t a sack?
Or a sack covered with material?

How… Game show?

Every one of his episodes were a game to him!
From his murders to his writings!

I posted these pictures to show,
that there is the possibility the Zodiac
got his idea (of the hood) from this game show!

Can it be refuted?
If so, does anyone have a picture to refute it?

Anything is possible, but "can it be proven" is the question. ;)

What is the date of this photo you shared?
I mean, like the year it was first published!

What show was it also?

In advance, thanks!

True!
Is someone trying to prove it as fact?
Or is it a mere suggestion?

This photo (sack on head) has been posted on this forum in the
past?

Precisely.

The purpose of our boards are to present and test theories and ideas and work through them. They are not for members to post theories and then ask everyone else to prove them wrong. That’s just impractical and a waste of time. You can post theories about many aspects of this case but just because someone can’t refute it doesn’t mean there’s anything to it. If it worked that way then everyone is right and there would be no point in any of us being here. The case would have been solved many times over and in every conceivable way.

As for the subject matter you are presenting – it is interesting and good to add to the pot. It’s generally accepted that Zodiac was influenced by the visual and entertainment media of his time. His letters allude to and admit to that. The Mikado, The Exorcist etc even in his Debut "Zodiac" letter he uses the phrase "In that epasode"[sic] but there is a lot of material to draw from in that area and as such you can’t claim "This was his influence" outright just because something includes things that are, in your opinion, relevant.

You could very well be bang on the money with your suggestion and that is where the forum format comes into play. Perhaps other members here may have thoughts as to how best test that or look into it further. They may be more inclined to do so though if you present a theory and then ask for assistance in exploring its merits.

Remember, this isn’t about any of us being right it’s about finding and testing anything that may assist in identifying who Zodiac was. Piece by piece and crumb by crumb. That’s a lot of crumby pieces that need sorting and we have to work together to do it. :D

I don’t know Chief, he’s very smart or very dumb.

It’s The Gong Show with the host Chuck Barris who was also the creator of The Dating Game. Show was big in the late 70’s and ran from 76-80 and the pic is of The Unknown Comic who was one of the more regular contestants. Chuck Barris also claimed to be a hit man for the CIA at the same time and wrote a book about it Called Confessions of a Dangerous Mind that later became a movie.

Yep after and your welcome and grew up watching the show and very popular in the late 70’s. Pretty eerie the host claims to have been a CIA hit man at the same time he was doing the show. The Unknown comic was on it a lot and always looked forward when he was a contestant. You don’t even want to know about the Popsicle twins lol. :o

Good find Stitch.

Chuck Barris does not seriously claim to have been a CIA hitman. It is s joke. IEither it is a play on his sometimes feeling responsible for assassinating good taste and lowering standards for television and/or just hype and humor. The movie was a comedy and pretty funny, written by Charlie Kaufman who wrote Being John Malkovich a similarly weird funny movie.

Popsicle girls was the only good thing ever on the show. ;)

Cap.The killing costume that was put in my car Sept 28 or 29th 1969 , didn’t have slits for the eyes they were round holes cut into the black smelly paper sack. It rested on the persons shoulders, because I saw the bends at the bottom of it. The poncho part that was black cotton cloth had the white logo on it about 3 inches across. I thought it was sort of dirty, like muddy water . But now I know that could have been blood. One spot on the white logo, looked as if he spilled food like mustard and catsup mixed together. That spot was about the size of a dime on the right side of the logo.

I like what Blind Bat found , notice in one of his pictures there is a large X on the forehead part of the paper bag. Put a circle around that X and you have something very close to the Z logo. Do I think Zodiac could have gotten his idea for his hood from another show before Sept 69 ? Sure why not ? Zodiac was not an inventive person, he used ideas he saw elsewhere. Thank you Blind Bat , If you can find the Dick Van Dyke show where he puts on a black paper sack to scare Mary , please post it.
