I am new or this forum, any forum actually, and will get around to an introduction eventually…Anyway I see you struggling to get something for this theory and I couldn’t help but notice in the disputed letter the "smarter and better" language. Seems forced to me so try this out and see of it makes you want to look at the man in the photo. The writer scratched out a "bu" then shortly after uses "smarter and better". It starts with "I am" take the scratched out "bu" and from there you can spell "Burdett" using the letters. "bu" from the scratch out, "r" from "smarter", "d" from "and", "ett" from better…

it’s a stretch but I’m trying to help! Btw is there a section in the technology area that will teach me how not to take 15 minutes to post from an IPad? Was trying to do simple things like highlight letters and add strikethroughs but couldn’t get any of it too work, before anyone laughs at me remember, this is really the first time I posted to any forum, more of a silent observer at heart.

Yep paul is a standout.. Maybe celluLOSE is the tricky bit… LOWES ..word play ..was lowes a popular shop at the time .. Could be found all over.

Yes, interesting..however ‘Scotch’ tape was a brand..so this could have been Charles Manson’s tape..nevertheless, the ‘friction tape’ description is a nice find.

Except Donna Lass, all of the known Z crimes could still go on his account. However, later Z communications of course not. In fact he had died only days after the Kathleen Johns incident, therefore when police searched for a guy looking exactly like him.

Unable to place him in Northern California guess although he is the best match ever, if he is the same person like the Paul Thomas Burdett of Riverside, he probably can be ruled out.

Sorry if someone has already noted that big reels of magnetic tape were also used for mainframe computers and also in the movie studios.

I think this IS a success in Z research:

He wants us to know that something ‘belongs’ to him and that he had left it accidentially, swim fins or scuba gear. Or playing chess, several cheap sets in his closets? And his tape is waiting for him all over California?

There are so-called ‘Rook Knives’ available for both, hunting and scuba diving..a rook is also used in chess. So if one may trust Zodiac, his name might be PAUL (from Scotch tape) ROOK (from chess & scuba knives). And there was a Beverly Rook in the 1966 class of Ramona High in Riverside, if this may be mentioned.

I read this thread a few months ago, so forgive me if someone else has said this, but the ‘mystery man’ in the photo is Darlene’s ex-husband. I saw another photo taken in the same spot at the same time, and he was smiling. The gap in the teeth says it’s Philips.
(He’s a real puzzle, incidentally.) (In my opinion.)
