From various internet sources, it can be found out that the ‘Ardis McLaughlxx" of Riverside and the one from Vallejo seem to be the same person. So far, however, I could not verify that the one from 2906 Cridge Street has the middle name ‘Lou’. But, another address in Lakewood, at least shows the same birth month (Oct ’48). Also, both are listed to be related to a ‘Timothy Jar McLaughlxx’.

However, unsure if all the internet data is correct. BUT with Ardis McLaughlxx, not being such a common name, an Ardis McLaughlxx born in Oct ’48 was present near two completely different crime scenes. Thus, this guy certainly makes a good POI.

Therefore I’d like to ask our friendly crowd:

1) Do we know about any other person who had lived in both, Vallejo and Riverside/Loma Linda area? Besides eventually Cecilia Shepard? And if so – who?

2) Which school, besides Vallejo High, has Ardis (Lou) McLaughlxx been to in the RIVERSIDE area?

So far, I could not find Ardis in any of the Ramona yearbooks (checked yearbooks 1963-65). Also, his name does not show up when entered into classmates. It might be crucial, however, to compare the faces of both Ardis’ to see if he not only assumed but in fact is the same guy.

I think, even if not a serious suspect, that Louis Myers worked with Darlene Ferrin at the pancake house and went to school with Betty Lou Jensen and David Faraday. Don’t know if that’s been rebuffed. If that’s accurate it’s something compelling, I suppose.

Nonetheless, this person you’ve brought up does make an interesting POI. The picture of him without the beard was creepy.

No name ‘coincidence’, as both appear to be related to the name Timothy Jar McLaughlxx (correct?)
Went to Vallejo High (present in the ’67 yearbook). Therefore, there is a connection to at least one of Z victims (‘schoolmate’).

Physical description
Height is 6’2”, weight 330 lbs. which is an exact match (height). Age is a match, too (current 72). Physical appearance matches the sketch pretty well (e.g. flat lower eye-lids, thin eye brows).

Riverside:
One of his addresses, 2906 Cridge Street (Riverside), is located two blocks behind Terracina Drive. Thus, the person lived, in walking distance to the street where CJB had been murdered.

Vallejo
Related address is 839 Virginia Street which is located at the same street where Darlene Ferrin had actually lived (1300 Virginia Street). Tuolumne/Springs certainly is on the way to this address when coming from BRS.

Therefore, despite being approx. 470 miles away from each other, these addresses are both located close to two completely different crime-related scenes – within walking distance (less than a mile).

In 2013, another hobby investigator had this person on his radar, too, mostly for matching the sketch. But also mentioned the last name could have irish or welsh roots, as described in other witness reports. He further mentioned that the father had an address in Modesto (Kathleen Johns pick-up area).

After all of this, I wonder if the guy can be placed either to Mare Island, Lake Tahoe or Letterman Hospital, too? Regarding all the circumstantial information, everything seems to be a ‘perfect match’. As far as I know, there is no other person with such ties to both, e.g. RCC as well as Vallejo High.

I took a second look at my ’65 riverside phone book and there is only 8 listings for the last name McLaughlin
and only 1 listing for a William McLaughlin, so if Ardis lived in Riverside in 1965 and his father’s first name is
William then the listing at 4213 Via San Luis is very likely where Ardis lived at that time.

I think it is astonishing that one Ardis Lou, born October 48, lived in that area. Actually I had expected him to show up in one of the Ramona yearbooks but he actually did not (Well, after all, he went to Vallejo High). To look at him might depend on each single year, regarding the yearbooks. There are some schools in the Riverside area, not only Ramona High.

What about the other 7-8 addresses? Which year is your telephone book from?

I just noticed at the very top of the listings is a R A McKusick, IIRC there was a RCC librarian by the
name of Rosa McKusick I wonder if that’s her, if so more weird Zynchronicity huh ?
