Found this little piece mentioning a Mercury Sable..the Sable wasn’t produced during that time, but the Comet was the previous Mercury model. So if this thread is correct, we’re looking for a light tan to brown Mercury Comet..

Here we go with the color ‘rootbeer’, which may be darker or lighter than a common ‘brown’. It even may be interpreted as similar to ‘gold’ or ‘light tan’.

with latter one rather being the ‘brown’ or – even better – ‘maroon’ color.

It’s all one big fat guess. ;)

…they may be dealing with one or more ersatz Zodiacs–other psychotics eager to get into the act, or perhaps even other murderers eager to lay their crimes at the real Zodiac’s doorstep. L.A. Times, 1969

if I had a gun and was in the career of killing, I would know what ammo was used and the number of shots fired. But how did he recall the position of bodies some 7 months later? Photographic memory? Took pictures? What?

Goooood point.

Tahoe – it’s SEVERAL big fat guesses ain’t it!

I would bet the Guy went back to the scene more than once after the murders to relive the experience, and likely fantasized about the murders after thinking back about them.
