I was looking thru some news stories and wonder if Z could have been inspired by news stories? Just decided to post what I find here. The only good one I found so far was about a Guy signing a letter to the editor, simply as Zodiac. But it was from 1902, so I am positive, our Zodiac couldn’t have wrote it.

Was this really from 1902 OR 2002? I hope the newspaper turned it over to LE or at least have it in their files because if it was sent in 2002, it could really have been from the real Zodiac.
Here is the only time I have been able to find "Blue Meannies" spelled the same way Z did without it referencing Z and prior to his letter….this was from a Pennsylvania paper, Pottstown Mercury March 19, 1969.
Who knows? Zodiac could have taken his name from anywhere. For all we know, his grandfather wrote that 1902 missive.
