I remember this one. Creepy stuff. The thing which stands out is that the caller complained about headaches – which is precisely what "Sam" did on the Dunbar show. This took place in November, right? The Dunbar incident was in October. I’m guessing it was some nut who tried to scare the teacher, impersonating Z (who was big news at the time), using the headache line (which the real Z never used, as far as I know). The fact that he went as far as entering the teacher’s home, attempting to poison the man is scary – but it doesn’t really smell of Z no matter how you look at it.

Crazy guy who knew the teacher and had developed some sort of obsession with him? Impossible to say – but I don’t think it was Z.

I hope they didn’t rule out Z without investigating fully, as it’s quite obvious, somebody intended to kill this Guy

In my opinion there is a hint for Zodiac in this article…

"Find a new way of Life! Check the ‘Business Opportunities’ in today’s Classified Ads!"

IMO this clearly relates to a possible message to Zodiac.

That isn’t even part of the original article, it is an advertisement that just happens to follows it.

Those same ads were in hundreds and hundreds of newspapers at that time:

Good thinking outside of the box, but Glurk’s correct, those ads ran all over the place

Bumping this! Not sure if this Guy was poisoned by Z, but somebody tried to kill him, so Z should not be ruled out immediately

Misdirection onto either another culprit or the current resident bogeyman is quite the classic tactic for the practicing murderer.

Z did say that he would kill people in other ways. May totally not be z, but the perp is somebody capable of murder, so i would not write Z off entirely, maybe he had a beef with Williams.

Well, I agree that he did claim to kill people in a variety of less obvious ways, but let’s be honest here: the man was a total liar. The only times he told the truth were when doing so favorably served his goals. So the Zodiac has zero credibility with respect to any of his unsubstantiated claims, if only because he strikes me as an inveterate and pathological liar.

Also, one would add that male murderers aren’t typically poisoners, and they rarely change their modus operandi from firearms to chemicals.

Additionally, the Zodiac, in his claim to kill people in secret, was likely declaring his retirement while attempting to preemptively take credit for every future stubbed toe and broken leg in the Bay area. He was trying to go on without actually going on.

Finally, the article claims the poisoner forcibly entered the victim’s residence, which I don’t think the Zodiac would do simply because he appears to have been a more impersonal killer who operated similar to a mafia assassin. He would hit his target and run. Even at LB he spent no more than a few minutes in the open behind an executioner’s disguise, and only then to get his victims into the proper place for their assault.

Sorry. Not trying to be negative, but I’m a naturally incorrigible skeptic.
