Further to Zamantha’s thread about Andrea Ingersoll ( http://www.zodiackillersite.com/viewtop … f=37&t=569), I wanted to add some other victims that were found in the same area, prior to- and after Ingersoll. I don’t necessarily believe that these are ALL (or any of) Zodiac victims, as I think most would agree.

Also, I’ll summarize of the other known murderers that were operating in the area around the same time as I think it is helpful to eliminate possible Z victims as more likely victims of another killer.

To give a little geographical background, Pittsburg, Bay Point and Antioch are just about 20 minutes (20 miles) away from Lake Herman Road in Benecia, across a narrow section of the Bay. Highway 4 is the major route that connects the three cities. Another 40 miles to the East along Highway 4 is Stockton, which I’ll also include some activity as it helps build some POIs. Prior to 1992, Bay Point was called “West Pittsburg”, if it shows up in any articles.

I’ll list the events in chronological order and post copy of several articles, following this initial post.

The first was Theresa Colleen Brown. Investigators believe she was run off the road into a ravine (Highway 4 at Willow Pass Road) and stabbed to death. Found by a CHP officer early in the morning on 4/22/1988. She was on her way to her home in Antioch, from her job in Walnut Creek (15 minutes South) late at night. I’ll post an article from 2000, which has more details. If any, this one sounds the most Z-like IMO.

The next two are Sharon Mattos, who was found on 7/18/1992 in Pittsburg and Andrea Ingersoll, found on 11/12/1992, in West Pittsburg (now Bay Point — see Zamantha’s thread: http://www.zodiackillersite.com/viewtop … f=37&t=569). I’ve found few details on Sharon Mattos and the article in the aforementioned Ingersoll post gives her cause of death as "traumatic injury". These two were described as "prostitutes", which matches a characteristic of most of the later area murders.

A big jump to 1998 leads to most well documented of the unsolved murders of the area. 15 year-old Lisa Diane Norrell found dead by apparent asphyxia on 11/6/1998. At some point, there were two men in custody (David Michael Heneby, Jr. and Garry Lee Walton) based on a lead derived from a deal with accused child-molester Duanne Shoemake (who was a local Fire chief, at the time). Ultimately, the two men were released.

Just following the Norrell murder, the activity picks up.

The next is Michael Tan, (one of the most obscure of the lot, due to being male, I presume), found bludgeoned and ultimately drowned in Pittsburg on 11/9/1998. He sticks out as neither a prostitute (apparently) nor not being from the area (from Walnut Creek, 15 minutes due South). I will post the article on his death.

There is a documented attempted kidnapping in Antioch on 11/19/1998.

The next 4, along with Lisa Norrell, are the ones presented in most articles about the string of Highway 4 murders:

On 12/5/1998, Jessica L. Frederick was found in Pittsburg stabbed to death (her boyfriend, Mohammad Niaz was a suspect).
On 12/15/1998, Tammie Davis was found in a Bay Point outhouse, beaten severely, but alive. "She’ll never be at full capacity again", was a quote from a detective.
On 12/15/1998, Rachael Cruise was found strangled and smothered in Pittsburg.
On 1/8/1999, the series apparently ends with Valeria Dawn "China" Schultz found stabbed and strangled in Bay Point.

There are a few names that haunt the area, Joseph Naso, Roger Kibbe, Darryl Kemp, Charles Jackson and Phillip J. Hughes, but their convictions and/or incarcerations (except for the currently-on-trial, Naso), make them difficult (or impossible) to connect to the above murders, particularly the later ones.

Phillip Garrido, who was sentenced in 2011 for the kidnapping and sexual assault of Jaycee Lee Dugard. He lived in Antioch, from 1988, after being paroled for a prior rape. His initial arrest (in 2009) prompted a new investigation into the above murders, with a focus on the murder of Lisa Norrell.

In 2008, William Jennings Choyce, of Stockton, was convicted of the murder of Lawanda Beck, found on 7/2/1997 in Stockton, Gwendolyn Lee, found on 8/11/1997 in Stockton, and Victoria Bell, found on 4/3/1988 in Oakland. All three were known prostitutes and had been raped and shot. Choyce has been incarcerated since 2002 for 2 rapes (in 1994 and 2001) prior to the 3 homicide convictions.

Tammy Davis who I told you about at the library, has sense died. Brown lived with in a few blocks of where I did. They felt that she knew her killer, because it was a over kill. It was in the same area that my suspect tried to force me off of that road at night.( More than once )The police always think that when it is a over kill, they say it is a crime of passion. I doubt Cecelia was a crime of passion, that killer goes into a rage and over kills almost everyone he kills.

I have been working with a very nice retired detective from Pittsburg, who told me recently, after I told him that my suspect I believe is the Zodiac .

He said that is a odd coincidence, because we received letters from someone who said he was the Zodiac and that he was the killer. We also received a phone telling us where the body was.
The Pittsburg police dept. felt all of the murders were done by one man ( Except Brown and perhaps Lisa Norrell because they were not hookers). They knew for sure that they had a serial killer, but felt the person claiming to be Zodiac had to be a hoax. They kept it pretty much to themselves about a serial killer on the loose in CCC.

I am doing my best to find more victims who escaped the killer, from what I have been told by friends of the victims, there were a few who got away from him. They all described the same man as a older man, possibly in his 50’s-60’s pot belly , not fat, about 5 ft 10 wavy salt and pepper hair, mustache, glasses.( hard to tell how tall or short because he was sitting in his vehicle ).They said that he looked like he worked in construction. One told me that he has a lazy eye, she is still alive , he has gone after her a few times , to shut her up I would think ?
He had a friend with him on one occasion, in a white Jag. He was dressed in a nice suit or spots jacket , his friend had a shaved head, mustache, blue eyes, a space between his front teeth. (That fits the RH man I have). They told her that if she would take a ride with them to the Vallejo /Napa area, they would give her $200.00. I was dumbfounded when she told me that one ! She didn’t go because she then recognized the driver as being the man who tried to kill her.
I asked her how did she recognize him, being he was in a different car looking very different ? She said it was his eye , she will never forget his eye that moved around she said. I am convinced that he is the same man that I have been stalked by for so many years. He is the man from Vallejo in 1968 I have no doubt about that !

When I first approached the group of prostitutes back in the early 90’s, I gave out many pictures of my suspect, telling them not to get into his vehicle ! I never said who I was , they asked if I was a cop , I said no, that I had a suspect who I felt could be the killer. I didn’t mention Zodiac, or give out my name , let alone my address.

I will have to check the envelope that I received in the mail about a month or so after I handed out the pictures of my suspect. Inside was one of those pictures, it was addressed to me. It was in a special envelope , because it was the exact size of picture which was the standard picture size 4×6. There of course was no return address on the envelope.
But the date that was stamped on it was March 17th Darlene’s birthday. This guy thinks we were friends I think ? Because almost everything he leaves for me pertains to Darlene.

Now for me to receive one of those pictures, tells me that he killed one of the girls I gave his picture to and he wanted me to know. The odds are very high that it was sent by anyone other than the killer, who I am very sure is my suspect. I say that because one of the girls that did get away from his long knife, said he was the man.

I have found another girl who has gone into hiding from the attacker , I gave the det. her name, the detective is very pleased about that. He has told me that he believes the killer has been killing in that area and all over Contra Costa County for a very long time. He didn’t tell me why he believed that, but then I had the same feeling without being told anyway. Anytime that there Is a female murder, without rape or robbery, over kill, I will always wonder if that was Zodiac ?

Isn’t that what he wanted, when he said he would continue to kill and we could guess which ones were his ?

Morf , I am looking forward to Colleen’s family member joining us and telling us why she feels as I do that the killer was Zodiac.

When I first contacted the Pittsburg police or sheriffs dept. about Teresa Colleen Browns murder and that I was also chased and almost forced off of that highway.

I told them that I had a few license plate numbers for some of his vehicles. They didn’t seem interested in that at all.
If we can get this killer caught it will save many more that I am sure he will continue to kill. Bless this family member coming forward with her information that could help get the man caught.

Tan stands out as an anomaly to me. Doesn’t match the victimology. Was he mistaken for a female? I know the 1-70 serial killer "accidentally" murdered a male shopkeeper that he mistook for a female.

From everything I have read about Kibbe, he had a very distinctive signature (cutting the clothes of the victims). No shortage of serial killers in California (no offense)!

Forgive me in advance. I am an outsider looking at all the possible angles and don’t wish to malign the memory of an innocent murder victim. The drainage ditch in Tan’s case is really the only connection, right? He had a girlfriend, so apparently he was hetero. Don’t know if he looked like a woman or not. But the pool/card angle. Maybe he fell on the wrong side of a card game, got hustled at pool, drug deal went bad, who knows? It gets funky, he’s attacked by one or more thugs and they leave him to die. I just don’t think he’s connnected. Almost twenty years of experience dealing with your garden variety criminals has led me that conclude that most crimes are committed because of SAM (sex, alcohol/drugs or money).

True, He didn’t fit in my book either, but who am I argue with Police? I just showed what the list was that I had, I have others that I believe were the work of Zodiac that haven’t made the news as being killed by a serial killer.
When ever I see a unsolved murder of a female in Contra Costa County ,or Solano, who was not robbed or raped and was a over kill, I can’t help but think Zodiac could have done it again.
Most police seem to go by what they are taught in "murder 101" and that is if it is a over kill, is of a personal nature and most likely was done by someone close to the victim. I disagree with that as being too general. I don’t think that Zodiac knew all of his victims, yet it was as if it most were personal and over-killed.

The number of murders that my suspect has given me are over 70 murders in Calif alone. I was told that some of the Pittsburg girls were tortured before they were killed or left for dead.If it is true that all of those were killed by one man, then my suspect should be at the top of the suspect list, because he was ID’d by one who survived his knife attack.
I believe that Zodiac has escalated into being even more evil now than in the 60’s-70’s.

Do you know if Teresa Brown wore a uniform on her job and if so, what it looked like?

Sorry I don’t know if she wore a uniform or not.
I had planed to go there with one of my guy friends, because we heard it was such a nice place to go. They had phones at the bar, so if you saw someone you were interested in meeting , you could call that person and have a conversation with them. We wanted to check it out because it was so different and clever.

I have a strong feeling that the man who kept trying to force me off that same highway about 2:45 am could have been her killer. It is a shame that the police felt she probably knew her killer and that she knew some bad people.
When you work with the public, of course you meet bad people ! You meet very nice people as well. Where she worked was a very nice respectable place. It was called the "Renaissance" Bar. That name fit right in with what Zodiac believed in ""re-birth" after death.

I reckon if we accept Stine as the work of Zodiac (and I don’t see how we can deny it considering the bloody swatch of shirt), it’s not inconceivable that he would murder a single male victim.

Your comments are very interesting, Sandy. The biggest question surrounding Zodiac (I think) is what happened after Stine. Did he stop killing, did he follow through with his threat to make his murders look like accidents, did he go to jail or an institution, or move away? We know serial killers (even if they are dormant for a while) just don’t stop. Age may stop em (although look at Albert Fish) or a physical condition. If your POI is Z, then we may know what he has been up to.

Interesting Sandy. I’ve heard about that bar or one similar now that you refresh my memory from my dear friend (who is also my poi)! Phones at table used to call people….! Now I’m just wondering if by chance there could have been an altercation of some kind at this place involving Teresa on a prior occasion. Maybe someone had too much to drink and was refused service and asked to leave. If angry enough, they may have decided to take it out on her at a later time and just waited for her to get off work and then follow her in their car thereby not risking anyone being able to associate him with her at that place and time.

The best chance of finding out more would probably be from her family members.

I think that if the family had information , it was probably given already. I believe that finding more females who have escaped this killer and give them a picture line up of suspects including the one I believe is the killer. Would bring those cases to a close.

The police believed it was a serial killer who did them all, but don’t want to believe that the man could be Zodiac, is pretty closed minded if you ask me. The killer did leave a note by one of the bodies( that I was told by one of the other girls who knew the victim). Why not get a handwriting expert to compare it to known Zodiac writing, instead of just disregarding the evidence?
The man told the police he was Zodiac and he is the same suspect who I got away from in Vallejo 1968. He is the face of Darlene’s killer, where is the gray area ????? Try at least to prove that to be false ,instead of going on hunches and ignoring the facts? There has to be other females besides myself, who were followed on Highway 4 late at night and the man trying to force them off of the road. I know that there were a few that that happened to on Vasco rd and March Creek late at night. That was pretty much the same general area and time.
Like I had said before, I did a stake out to see if the man was indeed my suspect trolling for these girls in the middle of the afternoons. I saw him with in minutes of parking at the spot where I knew the girls were being picked up. He removed both his front and back license plates off of his silver Honda looking car. I have no reason to be making this stuff up!My daughter was with me and got out to make sure it was him at the stop sign. He saw my daughter who he had been following the past few yrs and with in days, her friend Andrea Ingersol who she was with earlier that night, ended up later that same night murdered.

I have been looking over some of my z collections and found the article about the " 3" different women who were followed late at night by a man in a green sedan in Marsh creek rd , Vasco rd, and "J 4". The article was in the Contra Costa Times Jan 1st 1994.

The title was "Police warn of man trying to run women off rural roadways" ( Below is what was written in the article)

An unknown man is apparently trying to run women off rural East County roads, warns the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Department. The department is warning women driving in that area to be careful and not stop for anyone. In three separate incidents, women driving alone have been threatened by another driver. "We’ve had about "three" incidents in the past "three" months",said Sheriff’s Sgt Ed Johnson. "He comes up from behind, flashes his light and tries to turn them off the road."
The most recent incident occurred at 7:20 p.m.Wednesday. A Tracy woman driving on Marsh Creek Road saw a car come from behind and blink its lights. When the woman did not stop, the man driving the other car pulled alongside the woman’s car and tried to force her off the road.
Similar incidents have occurred on Vasco Road and Route J4, after it splits from "Highway 4".
The offending vehicle could be a dark green sedan. However, night vision may have hampered witness descriptions, Johnson said.
"It’s happened to women who have been riding alone at night,"he said.
"Women should try to avoid the area. If they have to go there,they should try to have someone with them."
Should they collide with another vehicle, don’t stop, Johnson warned. Drive to the nearest public area where there are other people.

(I know that some who have done a lot of studying about Zodiac, knows the number 3 is one that Zodiac seems to like a lot.) Zodiac’s first cypher was done in three parts, sent to three newspapers. Darlene , who I believe is key to the whole case,was his third murder victim in "northern" Calif.
Stine was killed on the three thousand block of Washington. Not all of this can be just a coincidence.

There has been another female found murdered in Contra Costa County. She was from San Francisco but had told her friends that she was going to CCCounty. She was last seen Aug.18th. Her body was dumped near a concrete company off of Camino "Diablo"in Byron Ca.about 3:50pm on Aug 22nd.
One day after the Lunar Eclipse , near water.
From what I have read she was tortured like Tammy Davis.

Where her body was found is in the middle of no where, who ever put her there , had to know that area.
Again my suspect worked with concrete in CCCounty.

This area is the same area where the three women had been followed yrs before, I sent Morf the article.
