Capricorn, look at the above link. There is a police report that tells where the candy was purchased. Johnnie purchased the candy.

I hope they fingerprinted the candy box since they know Johnny bought it. The killer must have placed it where it was found so his prints could be on it unless he was wearing gloves.

The fact that the shooter would come down from his vantage point into an area where other’s lived and fire his weapon again, shows a lot of nerve. What made him think that no one would see him? I couldn’t find a pic that showed where the killer was located…..

The behavior of the shooter in this case, reminds me of the sniper incidents preceding the murders of Domingos and Edwards.

There is a man that lived in the Solano County area, who had served time in prison there, after shooting a sailor on a beach down in Seal Beach CA in 1965 I think. I will not mention his name publicly, but I checked him out a bit, and couldn’t find much. He was a big stocky guy, and he had time added to his sentence for threatening a judge I think. If you search around you can find his name. He was originally charged with attempted murder but had his sentence reduced to some lesser sentence. The issue for me is that he was very likely in jail during the Bates letters campaign in 66-67 and that is almost a deal breaker for me

Sorry perp, I haven’t come across any photos yet. A couple of us have tried to locate pictures of them in their high school yearbooks but not having any luck. Johnny’s age is reported incorrectly in the newspaper articles. He was two years older than Joyce.

Their headstone is pictured at Find a Grave, it has their full names and birth dates on the headstone. Joyce’s maiden name was Key.

I found this article about a possible suspect in the Swindle’s murders. I’m pretty sure this has been discussed before at another forum, it’s been a while though.
