Due to the recent release of the The Sacramento Bee archives a small amount of additional information can be gathered about this attack. As we previously knew police were looking for a suspect who had been prowling in the area. The suspect had last been seen on the Thursday before her attack at 1pm at the intersection of Arden Way / Watt Ave. He was seen driving a Dark Green Volkswagen and wore a long sleeved yellow shirt and yellow slacks. This clothing could be of interest as it is unusual, a man wearing all yellow.
As we already know on the day of her attack she had traveled to Grass Valley to visit her family before returning to Sacramento for the evening. In Grass Valley and Nevada City area there was a newly organised commune named "Ananda Retreat". New disciples of this commune were monks and is was a sort of Yoga retreat, what is interesting is that their uniform was all yellow clothing as can been seen below, also this is shown on their website with a comment from a monk in 1970 "I myself was a bizarre introduction to the yoga path for many young seekers yellow clad aspiring monk,"
What is interesting is that in Feb 1970 the month before the Judith Hakari abduction is that they held a talk on the next block to where she was taken from.

Cragle, your lecture advertisement info indicates that Swami Kriyananda (=James
Donald Walters) lectured at 2391 Arden Way, possibly on a number of differing dates.
It’s possible that the Ananda leader(s) would have had a devotee (not necessarily
the same guy each time) go from Ananda Village to the lecture place to help or
ready e.g. slides, handout materials. Driving about to find the lecture building,
which may not have been as well marked back then as it is in the present day,
may have given local witnesses the impression that such a fellow was ‘prowling’.
In regard to Judith Hakari, she lived at Markston Apartments, 1740 Markston
Rd, Sacramento, CA 95825 . That’s the cluster of buildings at the top left in
this picture (2391 Arden Way can also be recognized in the lower right of picture);

The shown newspaper article includes the sketch of the witness description of
the person seen in the vicinity of Nancy Bennallack’s residence. Given that police
were of the opinion, at that time, that Bennallack and Hakari were killed by the
same person, it’s not too surprizing that the newspaper ran that picture rather
than the other sketches of the persons who were seen in the vicinity (by a
witness) of where Hakari was found buried.

Some of the photos give a wrong impression of a light green.
I don’t think so, that car is white as a ghost.
The only chance it was lime green would be if she had it painted between the time this photo was
taken and Oct. 1966.
Definitely green, that photo is flushed out. Look at the garage door it is also faded. Police and newspaper reports both say green also. This is her car :-
The Hakari and Bennallack apartments were very close to each other. And 105 miles to the east, about two hours drive, was the work and residence of Donna Lass in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

105 miles, about a 2 hour drive.
At the time, police believed all three murders/disappearances were linked and likely done by the same suspect.
