Tom Voigt received some possible Zodiac communications around 2002 and 2003. The anonymous writer talks about matching fingerprints and DNA, which are included with the letters. Have they been matched? Are these letters fake Zodiac communications or just unconfirmed?

Unless I’m getting these letters mixed up with something else, the writer was identified – as a woman. The whole story was/is bizarre. But AFAIK the letters should be considered confirmed fakes.

That’s funny. And she sent her prints and DNA to be matched with that of Zodiac’s? :)

Well I’d sure like to know where the follow-up is on this. In all these years, why hasn’t Tom Voigt posted results of and testing that was done on what was sent to him?

This reminds me of the DMV letter that was supposedly going to be revealed at least two years ago!

This also reminds me of that guy who confessed to killing Jon Benet Ramsey but it turned out it was a fake confession or he was lying and he was also in Thailand!

If there is any truth to this, it should have been revealed by now. IMO we are all just wasting our time with this when stuff like this comes out.

I have eliminated reading about all poi’s other than Ted Kaczinski and Ross Sullivan. I have decided to read no more about Kathleen Johns who is now deceased. What is the point? It will just never be known if she was telling the truth or fabricating the entire incident imo. and if she was telling the truth, how could anything ever be proven unless someone confessed and had some evidence or details that haven’t been publicly released. I do wonder about her child who was an infant at the time and with her in the car as well as the one she was pregnant with. They would both be grown now and wonder if Kathleen ever discussed the incident with them or left anything in writing about it behind?

I think Tom figured out who was sending him letters, and that it wasn’t Z. I forget the full details. I agree, the Johns case was always very interesting, and shared some of the Bates case M.O., but we simply won’t know if it was Z or not

Here is their archived discussion about the first letter:

Within the thread is a link to a message from Tom to the letter writer. But it was deleted. However, not before it was captured by the Wayback Machine:

You have changed, and so has Zodiac.
I believe that I understand most of your letter.
I will wait a while to be sure.

I forget the full details.

Same here. But I have a vague recollection of this being treated somewhere else on this board.

Perhaps Tahoe or Seagull would know.

Regarding DNA and fingerprints: I think this person actually submitted a set of prints, but that too goes in the "forget the full details" category.

Anyway, to be blunt – this is a waste of time. Zodiac didn’t write those letters, it was a kook or a prankster, and Voigt was able to determine as much.

Tom Voigt: "The Singapore letters were written by a woman named Zae, but she was writing about Jack Yoheil. Yoheil is a short and skinny dude, too young to be the Zodiac. I sent SFPD those letters back in 2002 or so."

There it is. Thanks, CT.

Odd, I’m 99% sure there was a thread here which dealt with the persons (and letters) in question, but I’m unable to find it.

hmmm… This is certainly interesting to read, what’s this about the writer being a female?

Yeah probably a kook or prankster, just the location of the postage makes me wonder.

Yes, dyslexia is probably my first undiagnosed language.
