I couldn’t find an appropriate Topic, so here goes….
I need to determine if my POI attended certain colleges; and, if he did, the dates. I’m not interested in the classes he took, or even if he graduated. I’ve requested this info from the colleges I believe he attended, and was stonewalled. One college even asked me the questions I asked them–plus several more!
Does anyone know if it’s possible, as Joe Sixpack (so to speak), for me to obtain this info? Or am I forced to resort to a private detective?
In closing, let me say I realize that students and ex-students have a reasonable right to privacy concerning their student records. But, when they attend a public institution, built and maintained by public money, I think the public has a right to know who attended this institution, and when.
Most of the schools will not give you records, check yearbooks maybe

I’m not really sure why that would be private information. your address, home phone number and your places of employment are not, so what does it give away to say where someone attended school? They probably just don’t want to take the time and effort to look it up.

I’ve called schools multiple times for different suspects trying to get school records, and they cited privacy issues

I thought (perhaps incorrectly) that schools were routinely contacted to verify graduation/attendance in connection with applications for employment.
