Does anyone know if it is possible to get a map of where Public phones were placed in Vallejo at the time of the murders?
Failing that, does anyone know if/how same would normally be placed, would it be standard to have one every couple of blocks as a rule or would it also be dependent on proximity to business/where people normally congerated within the city or any other criteria.
Also please, can anyone remind me what business was closest to Tuolumne and springs road?
Thanks

The Z phone call was made a 700 Tuolumne St & corner of Springs Road, a Gas/Service Station. Back then there were phone booths at every gas/service station & every grocery store. Seems like they were everywhere. There was a bar next door, but I’d have to pull out my notes. I took pictures of the location of the gas/service station now a Dr’s complex. and I’m pretty sure we have pictures of the bar next door, pictures where taken on a trip with Sandy & Tracers. Pictures are on a back up chip.
I doubt that there’s public records of where all the phone booths were. But we should be able to find the business that were there at that time.

Thanks Zamantha, appreciated! Would that be the North West corner where the First Filipino baptist Church is now?
The only reason I asked about the phone booth placements was to try to determine how many (if any) he may have passed (assuming he came along springs road) before stopping to use that one. Or to get a rough Idea how many he passed up regardless of route from BRS.
Very Intersting that there was a bar close also.
Would the gas/service station have been opened at that time of night?
Thanks again!
With the right digging, you may be able to find this info from the phone company

Just FYI……The phone booth was on the North East corner, so it was right there handy if Z came along Springs Road. Not sure whether Z could have accessed it from Springs road or whether he would have had to turn the corner unto Tuolumne.
Had he exited Columbus at springs Road (which seems most likely) he travelled two miles toward the centre of vallejo.
Wonder if he knew he was sitting atop a giant Z as he made the call
In any case he must have passed several other Phone boxes….just trying to figure why this particular one!
I think it’s possible that he lived right around that phone booth, and dropped his car & guns off at home first before calling, hence why he would drive by several other phones

The giant Z made by the streets….
Something to ponder.
