My guess Tahoe is that after finding her vehicle wouldn’t start, the assailant likely offered assistance, but probably her first reaction if she didn’t wholly trust the man, was to head back to the library to either phone for help or wait for a friend to arrive to get assistance from. After all this is the obvious choice, it was only 100 feet away. As she approached the alleyway the assailant dragged her into its upper reaches, where the violent struggle ensued. If she had entered the alleyway willingly, then surely the killer would have attacked her further away from the road and likely eyewitnesses. The attack was likely planned differently, but Cheri wasn’t taking his offer of assistance, so he improvised by dragging her off Terracina Drive. Whether or not he knew her is open to speculation, but its my guess is that since she was discovered between her vehicle and the library, she may very well have been heading back to the annex for assistance.
Yes, sunset was 6.00pm, so by 6.30pm, it was already dark enough to not make a body in the alleyway obvious.
I think she knew her killer,at least well enough to walk off with him to the dimly lit area where she was killed as opposed to the safety of the Library

Thanks for posting the article for me Zam. I was at Zkiller posting it there first.
I would like to add that the reporter did a very nice job about what we do. There was only one tiny mistake and that was about the two Super X long casings that I found. They were found at the Lake Herman crime scene and not part of the things put in my car in Napa 1969.
It is good to know that RPD hasn’t compared their DNA to SFPD’s DNA. That was something we all were wondering about.
I have to mention that I didn’t know that the "Bell Tower" at RCC were celebrating its 50th anniversary as well.
Does that mean that it was under construction when Cheri Jo was attending the collage and then was murdered? My suspect as you know worked with concrete and that tower is made of concrete. I would like to know when it was finished, because I did read that you could see the crime scene from the top of that tower. The tower is on the Terracina side of the quad.
I liked what Jim Simons said about how we could be helping the case, that is why we do what we do.

Thanks for sharing. At least its been confirmed they have compared prints on the car door to several suspects within the last couple of years.
I wonder what is taking so long to get this new DNA technique looked at?

Sandy, From what I can tell from photos on google earth it looks like the bell tower was built in 2006 ( ten years ago) ( the quad building had a major renovation in 2006)

It was confirmed in the article that the bell tower was built in 1966 and you can see it in the 1966 picture of RCC. We can’t always rely on what is shown on the internet. I googled a map of RCC in 1966 to see if I could see the exact area of the crime scene. The building to the left of the quad was on that map, making me think that 3680 Terricina had to be either where the street was expanded or the other side of that building. As it turns out that building was build where the two houses were. I also read that in 1966 you could see where the crime scene was from that bell tower. While we were there we spoke to someone who confirmed that building was not there is 66 and the tower was. The tower was celebrating its 50th anniversary the weekend that we were there. They could have had a major renovation of the tower and Quad in 2006, but the quad was pretty much like it was in 1966 from what I know.

Very interesting..lime green vw..never knew that..ashes spread at sea after body exhumed..never knew….most interesting was no match to prints and it seems like rpd still does give a damn..thanks for posting..
This is fir anybody…any of known suspects ever known to own a motorcycle????
There is also a picture of the quad in this thread where you can see the houses that were next to the quad.
Thank you monarch for all those great pictures! I am only going by what I was told from the people who went to RCC and what I saw when I was there. That tower isn’t a extremely tall large building. It is the one that is shown next to the library in almost all the pictures you have shown, except the 1930 picture. Look for a tiny square pointed roof to the left and just behind the library, that is it. It looks pretty old from what I saw of it, it was locked the day we were all there. I am not saying I am right and you are wrong. It is what I was told by someone who went there.
The "bell tower" that has all the bells ,I have learned was at the other Riverside collage. Sorry I was confused between the two collages, that tower is the one that is 50 yrs old and larger than the one at the RCC quad.
To tell you the truth, the person who claimed you could see the crime scene from the quad tower has to be wrong, too many buildings in the way to see the crime scene. The area close to it maybe, but not the scene its self.
I do appreciate all the work you have done to get all of those pictures, thanks. I would love to see a blow up of the 1966 one you have.
