Ah I can’t help but love your objections you beautiful evil witch. :D . No really, I admire and am inspired by your objections. They guide me.

Thanks…?? :)

Seriously though. When you look at it all as a whole, it is quite compelling.

I think LE has to look at it a different way then we do. I believe they have to consider things individually. I guess that is what I am doing in a sense.

If we were to have been privy to ONLY those handwritten letters, would we even be considering Zodiac? That is all I’m gettin’ at.

Excess postage, signed with a ‘Z’, child-like scrawl… I’d say yes.

I’m not talking about the envelopes…only the letters. But, one stamp was not enough postage. This sender using those stamps HAD to use two. Zodiac did not.

I don’t believe those letters are signed with a "Z". Funniest looking "Z" I ever saw. Looks more like a combination of "1,2 & 3"….imo.

And if you think it’s a "Z" why did Zodiac wait to even mention "Zodiac" in his first letters…why just the circle-cross symbol?

I don’t think Zodiac had a child-like scrawl.–sort of messy, but it didn’t look like a 3rd grader wrote it. Would have loved to see a lower-case "m" or that funky "E" written by Zodiac. None of that writing or individual letters (in the letters themselves) looks like Zodiac’s printing.

When I started out I ignored the envelopes. Not through choice but there was enough in the letters themselves to keep me busy. The envelopes I have started to factor into my investigations and, like the like the letters, I find no glaring contradictions. I don’t tend to factor in the postage issue because that for me is a variable. It’s of no consequence to me what postage he did or didn’t use when the writing itself says to me, same person.

I don’t know Chief, he’s very smart or very dumb.

Either Zodiac killed Cheri Bates or he’s got an identical twin who prints the same, addresses/stamps envelopes the same, is equally publicity mad, enjoys taunting the police/community…. What’s with these people who insist he’s a Bay Area product? In one sentence they claim he can whip down to Riverside and mail letters to RPD, the Enterprise and Joseph Bates while in the other they assert there’s no way he could move/drive from Riverside north.
It just seems to me that the similarities between Bates’ killer and Zodiac are too compelling o be dismissed as chance. Much simpler to consider him the sole perp.

We see things VERY differently then. :)

I’m trying to find something similar, and I don’t see it. I’m not trying to be argumentative here Trav…I hope you know that. I am taking all of what we know and think about Zodiac and Cheri Jo and strictly looking at the handwriting.

On a side note–did Zodiac ever write a capital "I" like that (with the lines on top and bottom) when it should have been a lower case "i" in the middle of a word? Asking genuinely.

I think many will beg to differ Dag. While Zodiac may have written the letters, it doesn’t mean he killed her.

Yes, that is a good read.

I fall somewhere in that range, I strongly believe that Z wrote the Bates writings, but am on the fence about whether he killed her,but teetering to thinking he did.
