Here is a case similar to Cheri Jo that happened on November 22, 1966.

This has been discussed in several places here, and at several other sites as well. I found this via a post woodenIglooii made at Zodiac killer.com. (thx Wood!)

Given the confession letter and Cheri’s attack I can see the similarities. However…..

In the case of Cheri we see the killer just kills her straight away. No apparent taking off of clothes, etc.

With this girl he taunts. He is then successful at receiving some clothes. Had she not been strong and determined he would have likely had his way with her and likely killed her in the end. Thankfully she was who she was.

So I suppose my question here is:

Why kill Cheri straight away and not this girl if both attackers are possibly the same?

Maybe he didn’t kill Cheri straight away, there was a large time gap between the library closing at 9 PM and the screams
heard at 10:30 PM.

Thanks for posting this Tahoe. It’s been a while since I’ve read this article

My POI lived off Linden at the time of this kidnapping, which I mentioned in a letter to RPD personnel. Not surprisingly, I received no reply. I’ve concluded that we’ll never get a meaningful response from RPD for two reasons: we are dismissed as kooks; and, should one of us actually solve the Bates murder, RPD would look both foolish and incompetent.

Third reason: They looked at your guy, and it couldn’t have been him.

Detectives are busy people. If they took the time to respond to every person who contacted them about Zodiac (I think everyone mentions Zodiac…probably one negative check-mark against a response), they’d need a full-time employee just to type letters and return phone calls. :)

Good point, Tahoe. Everyone who has a POI thinks his/her guy is Zodiac. I’m no different.

I honestly think people might get a better response (if any) if they didn’t refer to Zodiac.

I wonder if the victim is still alive and could be contacted to tell her side of the story.

Having a name would be key. If you can figure out who she was, let us know and we will find what happened to her.

Well, sry, no can do. I am not American, so my research skills are limited to the web. BTW, are there any available archives online from newspapers from Riverside CA? Maybe there were articles about this case after the one presented in this topic.

Archived issues of the Riverside newspaper are not online, unfortunately.
