Thanks for the link D.
Does anyone actually know if in fact the battery was dead when the car was located the following morning?
The statement " the battery must have been about dead by then" would make some kind of sense if the Battery was dead before he killer got to the car.
It would seem important either way…if the battery was dead, then would it not go a long way in favour author and killer being one in the same ( no mention of a dead battery in the papers I don’t think)
On the other, hand if the ignition could still be turned over the following morning, then that tells us something else. ( Unless perhaps the keys for in the ignition were switiched to on).
If in fact the killer did give her a two minute head start, it’s likely she had no more than a minute trying to start the car…would it run down in that time…seems unlikely.

I was wondering the exact same thing. I couldn’t find any mention of it in any newspapers.
I believe it was as I think they had it towed.
–thanks for the link doranchack.

I’m not sure Tahoe but would that not be standard procedure, as most of the forensic analysis of the car would be done back at HQ?

Now adays, it would definitely be towed. Back then, maybe they dusted it for prints, and then planned on driving it back to the impound yard.
That brings up another interesting thing, where is that car today? Junked? still in police custody? Could tehy pull DNA from it today?
There is more than one way to lose your life to a killer

Re the present status of Cheri’s bug: In ’91, I talked to a guy on the phone who claimed he’d bought it. "It even had some of her papers in it," he claimed. Too bad I didn’t ask him if he’d read them.
