I just thought of something, I wonder if Z used the little circles to dot his I’s in the Exorcist letter
(something he usually did not do) as a subtle clue to prove he was the killer of CJB ?
It’s only a small detail but the dots on the Lake Berryessa car door also consist of circles, at least the two between ‘6:30’..not so the dots on the letters j, i, however.

Mr lowe is correct. It’s the movie prop.
Interesting to note. The prop wasn’t accurate, in that they didn’t fill in the circles. The actual car door’s colon was solid dots.
Views of the real door

Just noted that the author of the RIverside confession letter used two blanks [corrected] after ending a sentence, instead of one. Not very common, imo.

True, the author whoever used additional blanks there, too.
I wonder if it was common in e.g. telegram or frame transmission or radio society or so.
Magnetism & Electricity (McKenzie) says "Yes". Physically, Morse is mentioned in that context, too. Does that mean that Z had been educated in Morse? Such education in (military/postal) technical communication would explain his affinity to encryption..

Anybody know offhand if it was truly determined that a Royal typewriter was used for the Confession letter, or is this a Graysmithism? I skimmed the FBI files today and it wasn’t mentioned at all.

Such a claim is made in the Bawart report.
…but where did Bawart get it from?
He echoed Graysmith’s claims of Hartnell IDing Allen at the hardware store, which are not backed up by the actual police report about that meeting.
(Due to the chronology, GS probably got the embellished hardware story from Bawart and not the other way around.)
