I have a question, does anybody have a good clear copy of Hardin’s worksheet? Does the writing match the code key? I was thinking, maybe he felt like his solution would get lost after he called it into the SF Chronicle, so he decided to mail a copy of it to the Vallejo PD. Then again, why drive so far to mail it from Vallejo, he could have mailed it from his house.

Why do you keep saying that it was mailed FROM Vallejo? It was postmarked S.F., but sent TO Vallejo, right? Maybe I am missing something.

No, you’re not missing anything glurk, it was posted from SF.

I’ve got copies of the worksheets Mike, but I wouldn’t call them "clear". If you want to see some detail of the Harden’s printing close-up, then the links Dave just posted for me will take you to some good ones on his site. Once again, as is usual with handwriting comparisons, the answer seems to be "there are some similarities and some differences". It’s inconclusive, as ever, a comparison.
I can’t see any reason why the Harden’s would give the solution, have it publicised, then post it in, though. From somewhere they didn’t live.
Seems hokey. They were pleased enough to get publicity at first (although they left town when it became too intrusive, as I recall.)
* shrug *
BTW I’ve got the key in front of a mirror and I’m staring at the results in a pixellated view. Very interesting.

I did a tedious comparison of individual letters here: http://zodiackillerciphers.com/concerned-citizen-comparison/

If, as I suspect, it was sent in by an independent solver living in S.F. he wouldn’t have to drive anywhere. He could just walk to the nearest mailbox.

This is what makes the most sense to me. I know opinions will differ, but I cannot see it being sent in by the Hardens or by Z himself. It just doesn’t add up.

Super great work Doranchak !!! Thanks you very much :)

Have you done something similar with lowercase letters ?

ATTENTION MORF  !!!:):

A section with threads for Zodiac’s uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, symbols like &, ?, ! etc should be started, a section/threads WITHOUT discussion, a thread as kind of a Zodiac Killer Encyclopedia

Hi, english is not my first language so please bear with me :)

I didn’t bother with lowercase letters because I don’t have samples of Harden’s lowercase letters.

Well, there are some lowercase letters here but it is cursive writing.

Good question! I have no idea. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s Donald Harden’s handwriting.

More info on this I found in a report, seems like they wanted to turn to Don for advice. We see here that the letter was sent off for prints, wonder what the outcome was?

What was the result of the print exam by the FBI??? If this letter was devoid of Prints, that would be pretty suspicious, and may make it more likely it was sent by Z
