Tomorrow marks the 46 year anniversary of Blue Rock Springs attack. Take a moment to remember Darlene, and how this attack, and subsequent Z letters, changed this case into something way more than a simple murder.

There is more than one way to lose your life to a killer

Certainly Morf, and Michael, as he has carried the horror of that night for nearly half a century.

Sadly Darlene missed out on her life, as it was cruelly snatched away on Independence Day of all days and Michael must have been haunted by the images of that night from that day on and it has without doubt took its toll over the years. It is sometimes easy to stand back, detach oneself from the Zodiac attacks and treat it as a ‘murder mystery game’, but the harsh reality, if you think long and hard about it, is something that leaves a sick taste in the mouth, of actually the terror one would actually go through in their situation, perfectly summed up in the Zodiac 2007 movie depicting the expression on the face of the woman playing Cecelia Shepard and even worse than that, is that in all likelihood nobody is going to pay for what they have done; that without doubt, is the cruelest taste of all.

I created this a few years ago. Thought I’d share it again.

…they may be dealing with one or more ersatz Zodiacs–other psychotics eager to get into the act, or perhaps even other murderers eager to lay their crimes at the real Zodiac’s doorstep. L.A. Times, 1969

I hate 4th of July. It’s ruined the holiday for me and just makes me think of everything bad and injustice.

morf:
I share your frustration, especially re Riverside PD. Twice in the past few months, I’ve sent them info on my POI, and received no answer, not even a simple "Thanks, but no thanks."
Perhaps I’m unduly harsh, but I harbor a suspicion RPD does not want the Bates murder solved by a civilian, as it would embarrass the Department. That RPD would actively solicit info from serious, responsible amateurs would, I think, show the Department’s resolve in solving the Bates case. Further, RPD (or LE in general) could approach this in a low-key manner: by contacting Zodiac webmasters, and asking them if they are aware of any well-researched theories.
