Rewatching This is the Zodiac Speaking tonight, this statement by Russell T. Butterbach caught my attention. The night of the Lake Herman Road murders, he says "we got a call from the Sergeant that a man from Benicia who fishes at Lake Berryessa wasn’t home, and that was around 7:00 or 8:00."
Has this man been identified? Seems like someone the police would want to investigate.
EDIT:
I was questioning why someone would be out fishing in the dead of winter, but apparently that time of year was great for catching trout.
My impression that it was just a standard missing persons case that later resolved itself when the guy came home and had nothing to do with the Zodiac case, much like the drug bust earlier that night. Both were probably mentioned just to give an idea of what kind of calls the police were responding to on the day of the murders.
