I am sitting on the edge of my seat , waiting to hear the results of the DNA at VPD.
WHEN WHEN WHEN will we all know something? So close yet feels so far!
You wouldn’t choose to walk from Sacramento Street through the Presidio to Letterman Hospital at night – have to take my word for that.
Even Z wouldn’t have done that (if he didn’t live in PH).
If he didn’t live in PH, the smart move was to exit the Broadway gate. Letterman was way too far.
FWIW – pretty sure the casino was open 24 hours.
I agree with Xcaliber, a sole female wouldn’t be walking through the Presidio at night. It’s not that it’s a bad area, just the opposite it’s very safe. But it’s downhill, wooded, and back in the 70’s probably not as lit as it is now.
If Lass lived in "the Avenues" (which is what the area of 40th/Balboa is called) then she probably took 2 buses to Letterman Hospital.
Either the #38 Geary or the #31 Balboa. Both of these run often (even back in 1970) The Geary bus probably runs every 5-15 minutes, even at 10pm.
Then she would have gotten off at Masonic Ave/Presidio Ave and taken the #43 Masonic.
That #43 Masonic would then take her thru the Presidio and drop her off exactly at the doors of the Letterman Hospital.
My bet is that Zodiac hid out near Julius Khan playground for a bit, then walked up to Presidio Ave and jumped on the #43 Masonic bus, where he saw Lass.
Those dogs would have found him if he was hiding near the playground. I believe he was in the down stairs apt of number 16 Spruce st, watching everything he wrote that he saw that night. It was a very safe place for him to be, because the police would not be looking for someone living in one of those mansions. At that time they were looking for a robber.
