After finally getting Manalli’s writing, it seems I can’t clear him. It’s got 3 stroke K’s, candy cane F’s, check mark r,etc….

I’m not convinced to be honest. Whilst Fred’s writing provided a lot of similar elements there are, especially in this, things that are to me quite out of place. There are things that sort of fit as well but that doesn’t really or isn’t enough to set it apart from the herd. Not on this alone anyway. I will need to check this against his other stuff for consistency of what are most likely ingrained habits.

It is a form though and from 1950. By form I’m suggesting that there’s a possibility that the writing is ‘uber neat’ for legibility and therefore not entirely natural but even still. When I’m able healthwise I will check it against his other stuff to confirm or confuse lol, it is Fred after all, never a dull moment.

I can’t shake the feeling though that if one day we ever do get a writing sample that actually is Zodiac I suspect we will know it and all the similarities in the world from all the POI’s will pale into insignificance. Great work in getting this, nothing is wasted and everything must be checked.

Is it just me, or is that a weird way of spelling the name Fredric? Not that is matters in regards to the case.

That "a" looks nothing like any of Zodiac’s. Is that typical for Fred?

I was looking to find just one example of a different "a" from Z and I didn’t see it, although I didn’t look at the Marco letter or his postcards.

Keep in mind that the form was filled out in 1950.

It’s certainly not a Zodiac ‘a’. Infact it’s almost not even a Fred ‘a’.

Dagnammit. Even just looking for examples of Fred’s a’s has got my head all spinning. His writing really is like an enigma. Now we have this application which takes it away from Z’s style more than towards it. Error, error, does not compute lol.

Ok this is probably more Zync than anything but it’s Fred Zync. As usual even the most "nothing like Zodiac" examples produce something.

Remember the Bates letter with the weird ‘m’. It was like an m but with too many parts to it. In the alphabet comps I did to show how the styles that Fred used vs the styles that Z used I picked one of those from Fred’s samples that was closest. It wasn’t a great match. I think this one is better. Typical Fred.

He was 15-16 years old when this form was filled out. Many of my letters have changed a lot since I was that old. But I definitely understand what you’re saying!
