Unlike in the Zodiac case, LE have a large amount of GSK DNA from crime scenes and rape kits. But with technology being so advanced, I imagine a Zodiac DNA profile could still be extraordinarily accurate.
The DeAngelo success was based on a sample from Ventura County that had been meticulously preserved. A Zodiac profile is trickier, and less likely by the month.
If Zodiac was responsible for the Santa Rosa hitchhiker murders then there might be more hope, as DNA from rape was recovered in those cases.
However, no idea if LE are still considering this link and unfortunately DNA evidence is not always stored reliably.

If there is good DNA evidence in the SRH murders( @Seagull would know best) and they solve that case with genealogy, then they can see if the killer has any chance of being Zodiac, personally I think they are 2 different killers.
The issue with DNA in the Z case is, we don’t know for certainty that DNA on any outside portions of envelopes or stamps is really Zodiac’s. But any DNA under the envelope flaps should be his. Next question though, even if they find that, is the quality good enough to have a profile put into GEDmatch??
