Greetings,
I recently became fascinated with the zodiac case and his unsolved ciphers after reading Robert Graysmith’s book. I wanted to join this thread so that I could be informed of any updates regarding DNA typing results on any of the zodiac evidence. Also, I am a criminalist (forensic DNA biologist) for a Northern California crime lab. I have been a criminalist for almost 14 years, so I figured I may be able to suggest new DNA typing technologies or educate others on DNA interpretation results from previously processed zodiac evidence (granted the group has access to those results).
Thanks,
Ryan

So nice to have you here, do you know Paul Holes with the Contra Costa County Lab ? Can you suggest to me how to go about getting some DNA checked, that I have on my suspect who has written some Zodiac like letters to me and what the cost would be for me to pay ?
There is a lab in Texas that charges only $350.00 ,but I don’t trust sending it there. If my suspect is truly Zodiac, I would want my evidence checked by someone that has the authority to check it against what LE has on Zodiac.
Being that SFPD has only a partial DNA sample of Zodiac’s , would a complete DNA sample of a suspect be able to be compared to a partial ? If say my sample is from Zodiac, wouldn’t even a partial that SFPD has show weather or not it is a match ? Sorry if I am not making myself clear.
Thank you .
Welcome Ryan, glad to have you on board
