Good Job Welsh! Maybe this will finally answer some long lingering questions about him.
I was going to try and request a copy of his social security application, but I was worried that I wouldnt have enough correct info to do a proper request

Got there in the end, and it only took about Four FOIA’s trying ‘KANE’ ‘KLEIN’ ‘KLINE’ and ‘CANE’ lol.

Anyway, until I can get to a scanner tomorrow (it’s 00:30 here now UK time) here are a few webcam shots of the type of documents they sent me. I apologise in advance for the poor quality.

(PS: Just checked my sent email outbox and this particular FOIA I sent in Mid October of last year. The one still pending, which asks for the release of redacted suspect named by eight year old I submitted one month after this one in Mid Nov, 2013. So, fingers crossed, i’ll know something within a month or two)

In respect of this site and its members, the person this comment is for/direct at shall remain nameless. They are not active posters here so I hope nobody will feel I may be referring to them. It’s important, I believe, to point out that although certain people, or person rather, has made it their business to call Harvey Hines everything from shady, non credible and several other less than flattering labels, I can now, with evidence in hand, categorically confirm that what Hines said was absolutely accurate. Hines report states:

"Kane has arrest history dating back to 1946." This claim, as basic as it is, has been questioned previously on a message board. Well, I have in my hand the full arrest record for Kane/Kaye/Klein/Barton and it is with pleasure, for and on the behalf of Hines, that I can confirm that Larry Kane’s first arrest was on October 18, 1946 in Los Angeles, CA.

It’s also questioned whether Kane ever even worked at the Sahara Hotel. Well, I can’t confirm that specifically but what I can say is, Hines stated he worked in an office down the hall from Donna, an office from which he sold real estate. The FBI’s own file on Kaye/Kane states in the description among other things that Kane’s Occupation, as of 1980, is ‘RELATOR.’

So, while that’s only two bits of evidence that confirm what Hines said was absolutely correct, it none the less shows Hines as a credible and truthful man and his reporting, the bits that can be confirmed by undeniable evidence, have been!

Just counted and there’s 15 pages total. See I told you last year, in the end the FBI will give me the files because the’ll get fed up of me in the end and just give me the files to get me to go away. Hehe.

In fact, I am slightly dejected and offended that the FBI haven’t started their response letter with:

FOIPA Request No 1206
Subject: KANE, LAWRENCE

Dear Mr Lewis. The enclosed documents were reviewed under the Freedom of Information/Privacy Act, Title 5, United States Code, Section 552/552a and are being released to you. Now will you please, please just go away!

:-)

I should imagine that when San Francisco’s FBI FOIA Act Officer opens his email tomorrow to see "DEAR FOIA OFFICER: Subject: KANE, LAWRENCE he may resign from the position.
Just kidding, think I have what I want now regarding Kane, only one thing I want now is that suspects name given by the Eight year old in the Stine related Document and am determined to get this because this witness, albeit aged Eight, IDENTIFIED someone either by photo in a line up, or on Oct 11 in Pacific Heights itself on the night, and whatever the specifics, for me, this could be the key to unlocking this whole case!

WC I think the Captain was Roy Conway. Does that name seem to fit in the blank spot?

For sure the Capt. was Roy Conway. I went there with the picture of my suspect around 1990, it was Roy Conway who told me that picture looked like Larry Kane from Lake Tahoe. Harvey Hines went there about the same time as I did and that could be why the interest in Larry Kane ?
For a long while I thought the man in my picture was Kane until Kane died and my guy was still alive.

Good Job Welch Chappie ! I knew some of Kane’s AKA’s but never heard the name Kaye before. I did a lot of looking into him as you know and I am now wondering why the name Klein never showed up in the FOIA report ? I saw proof that he was born Klein ,his Mother’s maiden name was Kane, his father was Morris H Klein. The report didn’t show his arrest for having a black box. I think his address at the time of that arrest was number Apt 20 McFaul, So. Lake Tahoe ? I have a copy of his prints from one of his arrests, but it has a huge red stamp saying do not copy! The FOIA report didn’t show the Cave Rock address either ? I hope they give you is military information. How could he get buried in a military grave with a phony name and a dishonerable discharge ?

Sand what you see in the photo’s I posted earlier is only little thumbnails of the actual full documents. His arrest as Larry Cane is on the arrest sheet I have, as is two arrest as ‘Lawrence Klein’, one in Hackensack, New Jersey, the other in Menlo Park, California. There are 16 arrests on his record dating between Oct of 1946 and Oct of 1980, all in various Cities and States, and all under many of his assumed identities.

I asked in the FOIA request for his criminal history/record (which they gave me), I asked for their files relating to him in direct reference to the Zodiac case, which the have again supplied me with (the main files on their systems response anyway) and the last thing I asked for in the request was any military records or history that their Dpt hold on subject. They sent nothing so I can only assume they don’t have any of his service hist. Then again, why would the FBI or DOJ have a citizens Military Records? They only deal with criminal so unless Kane was a, I don’t know, X-Navy Seal waging an anti-Government war killing civilian Police, blowing stuff up etc, doubt the FBI, DOJ or any other Government agency would have his Service History/records.

Below: My reaction this morning when the package came in mail addressed to me and postmarked ‘U.S Dpt. of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation…’

:-)

I initially thought it was the response revealing the name of the suspect in P.H

I wonder what your mailman must be thinking Chappie!

With an arrest record like that, I’m surprised he had any military involvement. He must not have had much.

Great Job Welsh……I had submitted my 2nd draft a while back now. When I get a final version from them it will be good to compare. Didn’t know before about Kaye or Barton. He seems to have never met a jail he didn’t like. I also didn’t have him in Ca. before 1950, but then I was never looking for Kaye. I was hoping and still am that he’ll have an arrest in a far away place on the date of a crime. He definitely got around…….
