I swore I saw it somewhere the other day and now I can’t seem to find it. Anyone know where it is? This site or another? It would be for Harriet Sullivan nee Gray, died in California, I think Los Angeles County in 1959. Thanks! I am looking for the official FOIA-ed copy with cause of death, etc.

Marie I don’t believe that we have Harriet Sullivan’s death certificate, only Ross’s. This is the only thing we have on Harriet’s death.

Thanks for the response, I must have hallucinated it because I really thought I saw it, but I don’t know why I didn’t screen shot it. Or I had a dream about it… it she lived in LA County, passed of obesity and arteriosclerosis. She was also living in a place with Loma in its name. I guess I am either crazy or super cra-ZZZZ!

Since a lot of you know a lot more about the FOIA requirements in CA, if someone can get a copy, I will happily pay for it. And in 3 years, when NY releases Harold’s, I will get his, (found out NY has a 50 year hold!!!) though it will be mute as the case will be solved :o
Thanks Seagull,

Actually looked up how to get it, seems simple enough, so I will snd out the form and money this week for Harriet’s Death Cert. I am not so curious as to her cause of death, though it may prove interesting, as hopefully will some other info I stumbled onto.

It is very easy to get a death certificate, I’ve gotten quite a few. Just remember to check the "Informational" box, you do not need to get the request notarized. LA County is pretty fast , less than two weeks usually.

Yup, saw that, easy and awesome, gonna mail it out today, will post for all when I receive it. I am so used to more comprehensive government entity FOIL/FOIA requests (when I was active in politics) of a few years ago, though most places have now streamlined the process which is sooooo nice.

While we are on the subject, I may start a new post if thats better, does California have a any sort of advisory committee on the subject like NY does? While its technically not legally binding, from what I understand, NYS views their opinions as such and their decisions must be followed. I will have to look through it for fun, haha, at some point to see if there is anything similar for reference. http://www.dos.ny.gov/coog/foil_listing/findex.html

I think it would be informational to us all to see the Riverside Police file on CJB, but as I understand it, they consider it open and won’t release it, which is their prerogative technically as an unsolved case, even almost 50 years later.

Just wondering – did you get any joy obtaining the death certificate? (Apologies if I have already missed this somewhere else on the site)

Joy? What is that supposed to mean? The reason for obtaining the death certificate was to determine the cause of her death. Was she distrate about something that happened in the family to the point she committed suicide, did she die under suspicious circustances, did she have a disease that could have been very traumatic to her children to have to watch her go through, etc. it was an attempt to try and understand what may have been going on in the home during that part of Ross’s life.

Susie: I think you misunderstood Q there. It’s just an expression: Did you have any joy = did you have any luck/success, etc. I’m 100% sure nothing negative was intended or suggested.

Thanks- I hope you’re right. I’ve never heard it used that way.

He is, right that is. Regional and global variations not withstanding. Minor though they be. "Any joy?", "No joy" being examples of it’s most succinct use.

I don’t know Chief, he’s very smart or very dumb.
