Some are in police reports, or mentioned in books etc. Some people were brought forward because they were odd, or looked like the sketch, etc

I think it helps to have a broad and deep familiarity with the case, too, danmyers22. Otherwise it is easy to cover ground that has already been explored, or to propose a new suspect that couldn’t have possibly been Z, for any number of reasons related to the facts of the case. The police reports, while sometimes incomplete, are good historical artifacts to reference.

It’s really easy, actually.

1. Find some guy who looked even slightly like the PH sketch. This means nothing more than glasses and a receding hairline.

2. Confirm he lived in the Bay Area at the time of the crimes, or could have visited the Bay Area at the time of the crimes.

Or at the very least show that you cannot prove he was not in the Bay Area at the time of the crimes.

3. Collect vague facts, common coincidences or idle rumor that supports the notion he was The Zodiac.

4. Ignore anything and everything that casts doubt on your accusations.

5. Write a terrible book or post vague claims on various Zodiac-related websites.

6. Violently attack anyone who questions your "theory".

I see people referencing streets and who lived on them in 1969. Where do you find this information? Is it census information?

The is a directory called a Polk and back in the day they had everything in them. You could look up people by last names, or look up the street address to find who lived at a specific property. It even listed occupations.

…they may be dealing with one or more ersatz Zodiacs–other psychotics eager to get into the act, or perhaps even other murderers eager to lay their crimes at the real Zodiac’s doorstep. L.A. Times, 1969

Here’s a link to the San Francisco Polk’s Directories-

https://archive.org/search.php?query=Sa … pe%3Atexts

The directories here are in no particular order, just keep scrolling until you find the year you want. The directories can be a bit maddening at first but once you get the idea of how they are laid out, things are fairly easy to find.

Great, thank you.

Now I have to decide, do I really want to go further into this?

I honestly can’t say I’d recommend it…

I have a new suspect. Well I have a couple of new ones. I don’t believe in defaming the dead without a huge amount of supporting evidence, so I am sitting on their identities and may never release the details. I do not require fame and I also do not need the hassle of having to explain and defend specific POI’s against inevitable ridicule and criticism. The real point of these forums is more to do with solving the ciphers in my opinion, and good luck to those who try.

To answer your question, new POI’s come about by doing research… and lots of it. ;) Research, research, research, connecting clues and connecting dots. That’s what it is all about.

So start researching. You may be surprised at what you find.

HAHAHAAHA! You’ve clearly been taking lessons from that Zeppelin guy who posts the videos about Donald Harden on YouTube!

Absolutely fantastic summation, this is about the sum of it, particularly number 6.

I’d find it a great idea if someone came up with a list of e.g. Mare Island or Riverside military employees..
