Very cool Seagull…you going? Wish I was out there. Let me know who the ‘current lead detective’ is. I heard they were going to shake up the Zodiac case in SFPD,which I feel is long overdo.

I live too far from SF. Even if I had gone the second I read the announcement I probably wouldn’t have gotten there in time. If the scuttlebutt I hear is correct, someone from this board is going and will give us a report. Don’t have it from the horses mouth though.

"Killer in the fog"…. :) For the creepy/SF factor no doubt…as it was never foggy.

Might be an interesting evening!

…they may be dealing with one or more ersatz Zodiacs–other psychotics eager to get into the act, or perhaps even other murderers eager to lay their crimes at the real Zodiac’s doorstep. L.A. Times, 1969

Damn! I missed it. I thought SFPD closed this case. It’s awesome that SFPD is showing attention to the case.
There’s always a chance the real Zodiac will show up…

Hi-

Was this a well-kept secret or something? Was it publicized? I didn’t notice discussion of this event until yesterday. Maybe it was for non-Zodiac researcher only? ;) Is it even on Tom’s site? Strange that an event like this flew under the radar.

Oh, and I just left San Fran. Won’t be able to make it. :? Got a one way ticket, on a slow boat to China.
Then again, it could be a passport to Hell.
Do you think GraySmith will be there? After all, he did write the book, that kept the story going, that maked the movie.
I would think that GraySmith would speak at this well-kept secret. :?

Heard about it semi late myself, otherwise I would of posted about it. I did not go but I’m green with envy for those that did. Hopefully they will post a report soon for all to know what happened. Sounds like it was a wonderful event. And it helps bring the Z case to the limelight which we all want.

The first I heard about it was in a google alert early yesterday afternoon. I sent the google alert to Tom, though I did not make a post there about it. Tom knew nothing about it either and thought it was odd that the event was even taking place considering SF has said that the case is essentially dormant.

I was there and had one of the best Z times ever ! The name of the SFPD Det. who spoke last night is Al Casciato. Kevin Fagan was his wonderful self , he made everyone laugh at all of the crazy letters and emails he gets from so many people who think they know who the Zodiac is. I was flattered that he mentioned my name as being one of the smart sleuths LOL.
Kevin mentioning my name a few times to the audience ,gave me some credibility, enough , that when I did go up to talk to people they did listen. And not give me that is she crazy look LOL.
I met a handsome now retired SFPD Det who has also worked with CSI and is a writer ! We exchanged emails and phone numbers . There was an SFPD forensic woman Pamela Hoffsass, ( Not sure of that spelling?) I spoke to her , after she talked about the DNA she said she has on Zodiac. I asked her about that DNA , she said yes it is a partial, but with how fast DNA forensics has been improving, she believes that it will be the DNA they have that will solve the case. I asked her if she ever tested the gloves that were left in the cab ? She said no, I said that even though SFPD may have felt the gloves were too small to fit a guy as large as they heard the Lake B killer was, that I think those gloves should be tested. She agreed with me, Lets hope that they are not missing from evidence room ?
I haven’t tasted beer in about 25 yrs , but I had part of one they offered with the pork belly sandwich I ate. It was very good ! There wasn’t any Q & A which would have been fun, the audience had very few who knew much about the case, they were just curious to see what was going to take place about the case. Al Casciato talked for a short time about the night of the Paul Stine shooting but didn’t add anything that we didn’t know already.
Kevin spoke about some of the people who have written him in the past about their suspects saying that he hoped that none of these people were in the audience.
The crowd LOL.
As it turns out one of the people who has Graysmith as his suspect , was there.
He didn’t come near me, I had met him a few weeks ago at Graysmiths book signing his wife asked me if I thought Graysmith could be the Zodiac ? I didn’t realize he was the guy who has RG as the Z and I said in a almost laugh, good God no way ! So now he wants nothing more to do with me, plus he saw how friendly
