Hi, (1) If you cut your finger, does the scar change your fingerprint permanently? Can the original fingerprint be matched reliably? A Scar on the finger interferes with print ridges, but creates a new unique print. Since matching a fingerprint doesn’t require the whole print to be intack, then yes, the original fingerprint can be matched.

I agree with Richard that there are things like dirt or a blade of grass , can obstruct a clear fingerprint and make what looks like a line. The notes on the finger print cards that I am talking about said "Notice the diagonal line", it has a arrow pointing to it. The suspect they had at that time was a seaman who also had a line through his finger in the same area.

The print in blood on the cab shows what looks like a scar. One of the criminologist on a show about Zodiac, mentioned a print believed to be from the Zodiac has a scar. I am saying that if the Zodiac has a scar on his right middle finger, it could have come from his hand slipping while stabbing Cheri Jo Bates. He may have cut his finger from something else, we don’t know.

The line that Richard shows on EVB prints looks like a scar to me, because you can see the "ridges" were distorted on either side of the scar, caused from the healing.
I agree also with Mike that EVB is a very poor suspect. Hollywood must be hurting for business to do a movie about EVB being Zodiac. All it takes is a book and bingo, they make it into a movie.

News orgs, real and fake, do this all the time. Just change a few words of a past story and it’s suddenly in your newsfeed again, resulting in all those extra hits news orgs now rely upon.

Still I’d like to think we’re going to find out who this man was soon. I’d like to see it done for the families and for Mike and Bryan.
I always had a hunch that eventually zodiac would be found. I think he’s Alive and possibly younger than most people think he is. I believe if he was dead somebody would have found something to connect him to the killings by now. He’s still out there in my opinion. Hopefully we’ll be seeing him in a courtroom soon.

Still I’d like to think we’re going to find out who this man was soon. I’d like to see it done for the families and for Mike and Bryan.

I hope that he is still alive, but if not and someone found his memento’s? Who would recognize some old taxi keys, a brown wallet, etc as belonging to the Zodiac? We would and some people in LE, but the average person who has no knowledge of the case would look at it as junk. I am a prime example of that and it was during the Zodiac crime spree 1969. I had no idea that the costume and other things that were planted in my car in Napa, belonged to the killer. I didn’t know what it was until I saw picture of it almost 20 yrs later in Graysmiths book! It still has not been described correctly, it was in two parts not one solid costume and certainly not an elaborate costume. The logo was the only part of the costume that took time to do.

Still I’d like to think we’re going to find out who this man was soon. I’d like to see it done for the families and for Mike and Bryan.

I hope he was in his 20s like GSK. That allows for another 20+ years for DNA analysis to advance further and for a trial to transpire when he gets captured.

I’d really like to see this guy get caught. If my hunch and your hunch is right he’s killed a whole heck of a lot of people. Justice must be done.
My hunch was that he was young in his early 20s to about 25 and very reclusive. Probably spent most of his time reading and writing and fantasizing about being famous. He was probably made fun of in school and bad with the ladies. It’s very possible that he was a virgin at the time of the murders. I believe he knew he was insane and instead of seeking help he embraced it instead because he had finally found something that put him in control something he probably never had before. Because he knew what he was doing was wrong I’d imagine he’d be nervous,shaking and sweating during his murders but afterwards he’d feel powerful and proud that he actually went through with it. This would lead to a sense of confidence and would ultimately lead to the phone calls and letters and the attention that he so desired.
Just my theory on the guy. I’m still far behind most of you in my information on this man so I’m probably wrong lol. This site has a wealth of information and I’m happy that I did find it.

Thank you sdue12494, I am glad you found this site ! I think that your idea about what Zodiac is pretty good. I believe he is probably 80 yrs old now. The man who I saw and believe is Zodiac, looked to be 30 yrs old in 1968. He is very healthy for his age and still extremely strong! He still has his barrel chest, scars along his jaw line and lazy eye.

I have a friend who has offered to have some of my evidence tested for Zodiac’s DNA. The problem I am having with that being done ,is how can a outside lab compare that DNA to Zodiac, unless they have Zodiac’s DNA? If I get the numbers for the markers and send that in to SFPD who has had a partial for many yrs., they may not trust the other lab?
I don’t want anything lost in the process either! I am caught between a rock and a hard spot. Not sure what to do, any ideas?

I do believe that VPD is still working on what they got off of the two first letters sent by Zodiac. Last night I was watching the ID channel and saw a story about the police waiting for some results from DNA they sent in. They said everyone is so back logged, that it can take as long as a year to get results. I think we will have some news soon.

Sandy – talking of DNA evidence, did you ever get that Lake Berryessa costume from your ex for testing? Can’t remember seeing any follow ups on this.

Sandy, Terry Poyser will take your lab work seriously. I have communicated with him about DNA. I don’t know what labs you are looking at, but the lab I use for my work as a lawyer routinely turns around twsting in about a week. It’s not as difficult a process as people tend to think.
