Read about the case here, very intriguing! Very Zodiac-like,in the lack of motive, no rape,no robbery. These kinds of cases with lack of motive are troubling.

Although the female victims were not raped, there was semen found on one of the girl’s clothes. I think it’s possible, that the person that killed them, although not interested in them sexually, still got sexually aroused by the act of killing them, and may have masturbated at the scene, or in some fashion, depositing the semen.

I thinkit’s possible, the person that killed them impersonated a police officer, and flashed his lights to pull them over, or maybe had some sort of EMT Blue light, etc. Their window was cracked, perhaps they cracked it to respond to the man walking up to the car,but felt uneasy about him, or might have thought he was not really a cop. I think he got them out of the car, and they made a break for it,which would explain mud and other debris on their clothes/shoes. I think he likely ordred them into their trunk, and then shot them when they got in.

Would love to hear some thoughts or theories from you guys, thanks

Similarities to Zodiac:
dark, rural road
approximately same time of night (11-11:30) on Saturday night
less than ten miles from an army base
seems to be a crime of opportunity

Morf, I agree with your theory in your second paragraph about someone impersonating an police officer or state trooper. It seems unlikely the individual would have been a known acquaintance of the girl’s.

It also could have been a soldier but since no military investigation is mentioned I doubt they suspect a soldier. The article at your link, if correct, indicates Federal and local law enforcement are investigating but there was no mention of military police.

Zodiac, as far as we know, always left his victims on display. These two girls were not, which I think is a significant difference.

Highway 231 was notorious as the north-south route for drugs and stolen cars until Interstates 65 and 24 took over.

I lived in Daleville for a year while my husband was stationed at Fort Rucker in 1969. Dothan was a typically rural, southern town where you felt safe. Daleville was just the opposite. Columbus, Georgia, is less than two hours northeast from Dothan and is strictly military in every way — I wouldn’t want to live there. Florida is less than a 30-45 minute drive from Dothan.

I just didn’t get a Zodiac "feel" with this one.

When in doubt, don’t.

I don’t think it’s Zodiac here, didn’t mean to give that impression, I just think there is a complete lack of a motive here, which is like Zodiac, killing for the sake of killing,no rape,no robbery, etc

This case is interesting.

When I started reading the information, I first thought cop or, someone pretending to be such. Window partially down. Drivers license on the dash. But what bothered me was the mention that the girls had been killed elsewhere and the car moved to that location. Doesn’t sound like a cop to me but does sound like a local duo.

When i got down to the suspects section, the first, really stays within my mind. He sounds like someone who knew about the crime and, each story he gave, included bits of the truth.

Edit: the fact that one of the girls keys with the chain "hard to get" was bothersome too. Almost like he thought, uh, no. I think I could also see a woman doing this too.
