Jane Doe #59 found Nov. 16, 1969 in LA County on Mulholland Drive has finally been identified.
http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/jane … d-38700800
Los Angeles police have identified the body of a woman found stabbed 150 times in 1969 near the site of the Manson family killings as a 19-year-old from Montreal, People magazine reported Wednesday.
Police have identified the woman as Reet Jurvetson, who moved to Los Angeles from Montreal the year she was killed, according to People.
Los Angeles police Detective Luis Rivera told the magazine that investigators can’t rule out that the Manson family was involved in the killing. He said the best lead police have is a man known as "John," whom Jurvetson met in Toronto before flying to Los Angeles to see him the summer of 1969.
Jurvetson’s body was found Nov. 16, 1969, by a birdwatcher in dense brush off the iconic Mulholland Drive. She had been stabbed 150 times and didn’t have identification.
"It was personal," Rivera told People. "It was a maniac … or love gone wrong."
After going unidentified for years, Jurvetson eventually became known Jane Doe No. 59. The location and timing of her killing, just a few miles away from several Manson family murders, has long fueled speculation that Jurvetson’s case was connected.
Police are working to solve the murder, with Rivera saying, "No one deserves what happened to her."
"It’s our job to find out who’s responsible and bring them to justice," he said.
Police said they used DNA to identify Jurvetson after her sister recognized a photo posted of the young woman’s body online.
The sister, Anne Jurvetson, told People that the "free-spirited and happy" teen went to Los Angeles after meeting and becoming smitten with "John."
Anne Jurvetson said her sister sent her family a postcard saying she had found an apartment and was happy but that they never heard from her again after that. Her parents never reported her missing because "they thought that she was just living her life somewhere," Anne Jurvetson said.
Eventually, she said she came to realize that her sister was probably dead.
"It is such a sad, helpless kind of feeling to always question, to never know," she said. "After all these years, we are faced with hard facts. My little sister was savagely killed."
Manson became notorious in 1969 as the leader of a "family" of young killers that terrified Los Angeles. Manson was convicted of killing seven people, including pregnant actress Sharon Tate, the wife of director Roman Polanski.
————————————————————————————————————————————————————–
The Manson Family has long been suspected of being responsible for her murder. That does not seem to be the case as they have another man in their sites for having committed this brutal "overkill" murder. The victim was stabbed about 150 times.

It’s nice they can put her to rest, but apparently they didn’t even know she was dead. That is so odd to me.
I was thinking; could it be serial killer Rodney Alcala who killed Reet Jurvetson? ( until recently identifyed named Jane Doe #59)
The guy she went to LA to meet in the summer of 1969, he called himself "John"
RA used tha aliases John Berger and John Burger at the time
She went to LA to meet "John"
RA had lived in LA for many years.
This is one of RAs photos "the flowered bikini girl",
could that be Reet Jurvetson ? (until recently identifyed named Jane Doe #59)
Her 4 photos of Reet Jurvetson (until recently identifyed named Jane Doe #59):

You might be on to something TF. There is a similarity. I’ll have to go back and read up on the way Alcala killed his victims. I found a yearbook picture of Reet that looks quite a bit like "Bikini Girl".

I have emailed, Detective Luis Rivera RHD-Cold Case Homicide Unit Los Angeles Police Department, who is the LA detective in charge of the case:
Here is the "Reet Jurvetson’s Family Memorial" website that Reet Jurvetson’s sister have created:
https://sites.google.com/site/reetjurve … ymemorial/
In this website Reet Jurvetson’s sister ask people who have tips to send them to Detective Luis Rivera, so that is what I did.
I guess the detective will send the photos of the Rodney Alcala photo "Bikini girl" to Reet Jurvetson’s sister asking her to take a look
and see if it could be her sister Reet Jurvetson.
Well time will tell I guess…

They are quite similar. It’s tricky to be sure because bikini girl has hair over her face. My initial thoughts are that BG’s lip shape and nose might not be the same as RJ’s.
BG appears to have a deeper upper lip shape and her nose ‘might’ be more up turned that RJ’s. The other area, again, ‘might’ be the chin. RJ seems to have a slightly flat chin tip but it’s slightly ambiguous it would seem depending on the shot. BG seems to be more rounded but is somewhat similar to those shots where RJ’s appears that way too.
Think the bikini girl’s lips are bigger..

*ZODIACHRONOLOGY*
This article seems to have a bit more information about Reet Jurvetson regarding the man or men she was going to California to see. Her sister says she was in Los Angeles for only a short time before she was killed.
http://coolopolis.blogspot.com/2016/04/ … woman.html
Coolopolis exclusive: Montreal woman identified as Jane Doe 59, possible Manson Gang victim
Reet Jurvetson, who grew up at 4545 Royal Ave. in Montreal’s west end NDG district has been positively identified through DNA testing as Jane Doe 59, the unidentified murder victim found stabbed dead 150 times in Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles in 1969.
Jurvetson was a popular figure from Westhill’s Class of 67, who attended the Estonian church on Marcil Ave, where she made many friends who raved about her many talents, as she scored straight As without studying much. She was also a gifted illustrator and seamstress.
"She was funny, she loved practical jokes and was a dynamic person," her longtime friend Ilmi Siimann told Coolopolis.
Jurvetson dreamed of going to California and said she might hitch-hike there, a common practice at the time. Friends talked her out of it, citing its dangers.
She went to Toronto where she stayed with her grandmother while modeling part time and working at the post office.
Eventually she saved enough money to fly to Los Angeles where she stayed with her boyfriend Jean, who she had met at Cafe Prag on Bishop Street.
Jean bore a likeness to rock star Jim Morrison, who Jurvetson greatly admired.
Little else is known about Jean or another friend also named Jean, at whose place the two stayed for two weeks.
Los Angeles Cold Case Squad Detective Luis Rivera has visited Montreal in an attempt to locate people who might be able to identify the two Jeans.
One tip has it that longtime Old Montreal street musician Paul "Gypsy" Robert was acquainted with the two and might be able to provide the last names of Jean and Jean.
Jurvetson was stabbed 150 times and found on 19 November 1969 in the bushes near Mulholland Drive and Skyline Drive in Los Angeles.
There was no way to identify the body, as she had no identification on her and the family had never thought of reporting her missing, even though they mourned her absence profoundly.
"Made in Canada" tags on her clothing led detectives to suspect that the unidentified victim might be Canadian. An autopsy found coal dust in her lungs but no evidence of smog, which indicated that she was new to Los Angeles.
Some suspect Jurvetson was a victim of the Manson Family murder cult, which was responsible for the murder of actress Sharon Tate, to whom Jurvetson bore a great resemblance.
Tate was killed two months before Jurvetson’s body was found, as the gang committed the grisly murder on August 9 and then following up the next night by killing Leno LaBianca and his wife Rosemary.
Vincent Bugliosi’s Helter Skelter speculates that Jane Doe 59 – now known to be Jurvetson- might have been killed for witnessing the murder of John Philip "Zero" Haught who supposedly died playing Russian roulette at the Spahn Ranch.
The excessive nature of the killing indicates, however, that Jurvetson was killed in a crime of passion.
Her parents were greatly distressed by their daughter’s mysterious disappearance and have long since passed on. Her sister, who still lives in Quebec, has asked that her privacy be respected.
The 47-year mystery was solved when Jurvetson’s longtime friend Gloria Lalonde told her brother about her long-disappeared friend. He poked around the internet where he came up with the photo of Jane Doe 59.
Lalonde asked a mutual friend in Vancouver whether the victim seen in the photo could be Jurvetson. That woman, in turn, contacted Siimann, who felt strongly that it was her longtime childhood friend Reet Jurvetson.
Siimann passed the tip on to Los Angeles police who eventually confirmed that the victim was Jurvetson through DNA testing.
The following statement was issued by Anne Jurvetson, 73, concerning the affair:
Recently, Jane Doe #59 (1969, Los Angeles, California) was positively identified as being my sister, Reet Jurvetson. She was a victim of homicide on or close to November 14, 1969. She was stabbed to death at the age of 19, a short time after having arrived in Los Angeles.
Forty-six years have passed since Reet’s death, and I am the last living member of her immediate family. I have written this statement and am making it available to the public in the hopes that it might prompt someone to provide leads to the police. This, in turn, may help the detectives solve the mystery surrounding this horrible crime.
Through the years, when she was only known as Jane Doe #59, or Sherry Doe, there arose widespread speculation about her demise. A forensic artist had made some composite drawings of Reet. Some people thought they recognized her. Unfortunately, these drawings were clearly inaccurate, as anyone can see, and did not resemble her in the least. Hopefully, now that the police have more information on Reet’s time in Los Angeles and actual pictures of her, there may be new avenues explored.
My desire is that my privacy be respected as I process the shock and grief associated with this news. I have been in regular contact with Detective Luis Rivera of the Los Angeles Police Department since the summer of 2015. All future information and/or inquiries are to be made to Mr. Rivera, and not to me. My hope is that this document will also answer the questions that will no doubt arise about who Reet was, where she came from, and what she was doing in California.
Because we now live in the age of the internet, where information overflows and where all kinds of websites exist, the last steps to identifying my sister were enabled. This would have been impossible even twenty or twenty-five years ago. You have to understand, I am seventy-three years old and the web is still fairly new to me. It was Reet’s friends who made the shocking discovery in June 2015 after seeing an actual post-mortem photograph and descriptions of her on several websites.
Immediately, they sought to reach me and share their findings. We spoke with the authorities and, after confirming all aspects of her description, I was asked to provide my DNA. It matched. Ultimately, because of the hard work of police detectives, good friends, true-crime websites and organizations such as NamUs (the National Institute of Justice’s National Missing and Unidentified Persons System), Jane Doe #59 now has a name. She had one all along, but no one knew.
Reet was the youngest child in our family and was born on September 23, 1950 in Sweden. We were Estonian refugees having fled our country in 1944, during World War II. We eventually made our way to Canada in 1951. Before long, we settled in Montreal, Quebec, and this is where Reet grew up.
Reet was a lovely, free-spirited and happy girl. She was very artistic, drew well, and liked to sew her own clothes. She was involved in Girl Guides and sang in a youth choir. She was deeply loved by both family and friends.
During her teenage years, Reet developed a taste for adventure and freedom, all the while being naive and trusting of others. After graduating from high school, Reet moved to Toronto, Ontario, and she found work at Canada Post. She lived with our grandmother. From Toronto, at the age of 19, she went to visit California in the fall of 1969. It seemed that she decided to stay there, because my parents received a postcard from her saying she was happy, had a nice apartment in Los Angeles and told them not to worry. Her living coordinates dating from that time have since been lost, and so I do not know the details of where she lived. As time passed, however, we received no more news. Attempts were made to reach her, but they proved fruitless. Initially, we believed that Reet was probably in search of more autonomy, and therefore we waited for her to get in touch with us.
As months and then years passed, we imagined that she was making a new life for herself. I remember that my mother would regularly communicate with friends to know if anyone had received news from Reet. We were always hoping that she would re-establish contact with friends and family. But no one ever had any new information. However, not once did we suspect that she had been killed.
As incredible as it seems, my parents never thought to report Reet missing to the police. They thought that she was just living her life somewhere and that eventually news from her would turn up. In hindsight, I realize that this is a lack of discernment. But sadly, we did not know how to find someone on the other side of the continent, in another country, if that was even where she still was. North America is a big place! The fact remains, we were terribly perplexed and we grieved her disappearance for many long years.
Although our family continuously hoped that one day Reet would return home, I eventually came to the conclusion that she had probably passed away. It is such a sad, helpless kind of feeling to always question, to never know, to imagine scenarios, all the while still hoping and dreaming that one day there would be an answer.
Finally, after all these years, we are faced with hard facts. My little sister was savagely killed. It was not what I wanted to hear. And now I have a lot to come to terms with. I can hardly grasp how she could have been stabbed over 150 times. It is devastating. I try to draw comfort from the coroner’s report that at least she was not raped, nor were there traces of drugs or alcohol in her system. Her body and inner organs were "unremarkable" and she had obviously taken good care of herself. Nevertheless, I am horrified to think of how terribly frightened and alone she must have felt as she died.
Reet has been identified, but the murderer has not. I have shared these personal family photos in the hope that they might prompt someone’s memory and help those who had contact with Reet to remember what she looked like at the time. This, in turn, might enable them to provide leads or confessions to the police. I am asking any person who might still have information related to my sister’s stay in California to write to or call Detective Luis Rivera of the Los Angeles Police Department.

this is her wearing the red oval ring .. one cant help wonder if she had been reported missing by her family and if that report had said she wore a red oval ring that a link may have been found earlier. Its a stand out ring.

Did RODNEY ALCALA kill Reet Jurvetson? Is she "the bikini girl" among the photos found in Alcala’s storage unit?
Reet Jurvetson met "John", who looked like Jim Morrison, in 1969 at "Cafe Prag" at 1433 Rue Bishop, Montréal, Canada.
Of interest is that Rodney Alcala used the alias "John" and he did look like Jim Morrison, both things said about the guy Rett was supposed to go visit in Los Angeles:
Photo of RA looking like Jim Morrison.
In September 25, 1968 Rodney James Alcala lived at De Longpre Avenue in West Hollywood, CA
ALCALA’S adress was located ca 3 miles (11 minutes drive) from the location where the body
of Reet Jurvetson was found, Nov 19, 1969, in the bushes near Mulholland Drive
and Skyline Drive in Los Angeles.
(RAs Sept 25, 1969 victim, Tali Shapiro, lived at Chateau Marmont hotel
8221 Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, CA)

The girl in the photo has a mole on her neck, but Reet doesn’t appear to in her photos. She also looks to me to have an overbite, whereas the girl in the photo looks like she has an underbite. My first impression of the girl in the photo is that she could have had braces, and I was a little surprised to go on to read that Reet was known for having straight teeth without braces.
That doesn’t mean anything, just my impression.
I think you’ve got a good theory TF. Certainly worth looking into.

Compare this picture of serial killer Rodney James Alcala with the sketch of the "Jim Morrison" lookalike "Jean" with the long feathered hair:
And concider this:
Rodney James Alcala
According to Alcala’s June 16th, 1969 FBI wanted poster Alcala is :
Age: 25 years old
Height: 5’10" to 5’11"
Brown eyes
Shoulder-length hair darkbrown/black
SSN RJA used : 549-56-1708
"Jean" the man Reet Jurvetson met in the coffee shop in Canada and flew to Los Angeles to visit, was described as:
Age: not mentioned
Height: more than five-feet-nine inches in height
Brown eyes
long feathered hair (haircolor not mentioned)
Reet Jurvetson lived at Paramount Hotel, on 5311Melrose Avenue at the time of her death.
In September 25, 1968 Rodney James Alcala lived at De Longpre Avenue in West Hollywood (this is aprox. 4 miles vest of where Reet Jurvetson lived in Oct 1969)
BUT!!!… due to that Alcala raped and almost killed 8-year old Tali Shapiro that day, he for sure did NOT live there anymore when Rett Jurvetson was killed October 1969.
SO, WHERE did Alcala live in October 1969 ???
ALCALA’S September 1968 adress was located ca 3 miles (11 minutes drive) from the location where the body
of Reet Jurvetson was found, Nov 19, 1969, in the bushes near Mulholland Drive and Skyline Drive in Los Angeles.
And concidereing wheter Alcala was ever in Canada:
